Identify community orgs, local businesses, religious orgs, social groups, etc. that share similar values & beliefs to you & your org or cause. It’s easier for people to identify with your purpose, and feel led to contribute in some way, if they can relate. Draft an email introducing yourself, the purpose of your event, why you’re contacting them for help & what kind of help you’re requesting, and most importantly, how they can also benefit from your new partnership.

Personalize each sponsorship letter using the appropriate titles for your contacts, & compliment the org you’re contacting on something amazing they’ve done that you really connected with in the past. No one likes to feel like a number; potential sponsors need courting too! 😉

Don’t forget! When considering potential donors & collaborators to reach out to, don’t only think helpful funding in the form of cash; supplies, time, labor, donated goods, & lots of other things go a long way when planning a production. Also, how is your donor benefiting from assisting you? Free advertisement, discounted services? What would make you donate your time or services to someone who’s requested it? Let the answer guide the way you draft your standard sponsorship letter. 👍🏽
