We have recently been made aware of some comments that were made regarding some of the youth drivers in the youth class. Those children were 11-15 years old and asked to have that class because there are not a lot of derby's that run youth class. We made a point to have a payout for those kids and a Mad Dog so that they had bragging rights and tried to make it a big deal for them. To hear that some comments were made loudly in the crowd that were calling the young ladies derogatory names and hollering obscenities at them is very disheartening. This is hurtful to the children running in the derby, offensive to their families, and it also makes our county look bad. There should be no reason to personally attack a child because your favorite driver didn't win etc. Please stop to consider how you would react if someone were heckling your child and calling them names. We enjoyed the kids and appreciate their parents bringing them and letting them run. We did a FB live for that class so that parents and family that couldn't attend would be able to watch their child/family member. Please in the future be mnidful of what you say about a child. As adults we can take whatever is said, but not the children. As always thank you for attending our derby.
