Aye Y'all!
Robert here, native Marylander and chef/founder of MayLee's Boiled Peanuts located right here in Southern Maryland.
We've started a GoFundMe account to raise the money needed to purchase a food trailer. We are asking for your assistance in furthering or efforts to bring Boiled Peanuts to Maryland. With your donations we will be able to buy a food trailer to better serve the community, and help us take our next step in growing our small business.
Growing up on the Patuxent River, Steamed crabs, Baked Chicken Rice and Gravy, Sweet Corn and even sweeter Iced Tea was where my heart lived. There is nothing like hometown cuisine to make any day a great day!
Picnic tables covered in brown paper, Blue Crabs steamed bright orange/red caked with Old Bay, Sweet Corn dripping with Country Crock or Land O' Lakes sprinkled with salt and pepper, Mom's Deviled Eggs powdered with Paprika and Gram sitting at the end of the table with a tall sweaty glass of Sweet Tea, picking crabs for her Crab Cakes and Dip tomorrow night. Laughing and carrying-on till well after the kids table went to bed. That's my happy place. That's my Maryland.
In my travels, I have broken bread with so many wonderful families, and been introduced to their happy places. Those special dishes you "only get 'round here" or "what y'all know about these". And if you stay there long enough, they become part of your heart too. And while there are so many treats that "take me away to that special place" - GNR, there's one that I'd missed that I knew I could remedy.
Bringing boiled peanuts to my hometown has been such an honor. I feel so blessed to help southern transplants take a trip down memory lane, see the expressions and reactions from neighbors, friends and family as they try their first boiled peanut, and feel the love and support as a business owner in Maryland. The demand for this wonderfully healthy, overwhelmingly nutritious, protein packed superfood, has been nothing short of astonishing. I've never been more confident that Boiled Peanuts are becoming a "Maryland Thang".
With all that being said, we would cherish the opportunity to serve you better! And we believe that a food trailer will be just the thing to further help us "Kick that southern cravin' right in the backside!"
Food Truck Festivals, Fairs, Farmer's Markets, Events, Businesses looking to draw a little more attention or just say thanks to loyal customer base, Charities, Fundraisers, Food Drives, Community Gatherings, Weddings, Celebrations, Religious Functions, Private Events and more! Plus the opportunity to show more of Maryland what Boiled Peanuts are all about!
Year-round service is important to us. There is nothing like a piping-hot peanut on a frigid dreary day. A cloud of steam billowing from atop a Quart of Southern Maryland Style Boiled Peanuts! I braved the elements this past winter with my little white tent and stock pots. Arctic blasts of 20+ mph winds and single digit temperatures were just debilitating, devastating and unmanageable, though I gave it my best. It broke my heart to say, "No Peanuts Today, Closed Due to Weather" I know y'all want your peanuts as bad as we want to serve them to you! With a food trailer we will be better suited to cater to you when the weather is outside of 70° and Sunny.
Maryland,
We know it's well past time for Boiled Peanuts! We know it's time for something new! And we know how supportive this community is to new and small businesses! Please show us the love, help us grow to better serve our community!
