THE BABY CHIMPS: A powerhouse rock band hailing from Largo, FL, known For electrifying high-energy performances.
Originating from the vibrant music scene of Largo, FL, The Baby Chimps exploded onto the stage in late 2020 under the direction of lead vocalist/guitarist, Matthew Morris. In 2023, a transformative evolution took place with the addition of Easton Morgan on drums and Ixavier Cox on bass, elevating The Baby Chimps to new heights. With a driving force behind them, the band swiftly captured the hearts of Tampa Bay locals with their raw energy and infectious tunes, and the trio’s collaboration injected a fresh vitality into their sound, marking of an exciting chapter for the band.
Managed by @musesacoustics, The Baby Chimps have fine-tuned their performances, delivering a dynamic blend of punk-infused anthems, soulful blues, and a collection of original tracks that push the boundaries of musical innovation. The trio recently debuted their first single, “Back to the Start,” now available on all streaming platforms!
Their electrifying presence has graced the stage of intimate clubs, local venues, and larger festivals in the Tampa Bay Area, but this isn’t the first time the trio will appear together on the big stage at ROC Park — they performed in the 2023 Battle of the Bands with their former band MIDAS, where they took home the win after wowing the crowd and judges with their unforgettable performance. Now appearing at the 2024 @springbreakbotb as @thebabychimps, they are the band to keep an eye out for at this year’s competition!

We refer to “the Battle of the Bands Coordinator/Director” a lot on our website, in the registration packet, on the registration form, and all over social media… but have you ever wondered, who the heck is this person ⁉️
Well we felt that it’s finally time we put a face to the title and introduce you to person who’s the driving force behind the event!
Meet Toni — she’s the woman who keeps the heartbeat of Battle of the Bands strong and makes the event come alive every year 💪🏽🫀⚡️
MUSICAL BACKGROUND:
• She’s been a musician for over 25yrs
• She’s a skilled multi-instrumentalist
• She’s a classically-trained double bass player with a music degree from FSU
• She was a member of the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra for over 12yrs (before moving to St. Pete)
• She’s been in a number of different bands in both Tallahassee and St. Pete
• She’s been a private music educator for over a decade
• She’s the double bass, cello, bass guitar, and guitar consultant for Pinellas County Schools
• She manages a music lessons studio where she gets to coach killer student rock bands, run an awesome summer rock band camp, and teach low strings
• And as of 2023, the Gulf Beaches Rotary Club officially handed her the reigns to coordinate & oversee all things BATTLE OF THE BANDS 🤘🏽
So now that you can put a face (and name) to the title, make sure to find Toni at Battle of the Bands on Thursday, March 14th and introduce yourself, she’ll be looking forward to meeting you all then!

The Spring Break Waterfront Festival Battle of the Bands is right around the corner and we’re gearing up for a killer event this year!
We’ve featured middle & high school-aged bands in the past, but this is the first year we’re opening the event up to not only elementary school-aged bands, but to LOCAL BANDS in the community, too! Which means this will also be the first year we’re splitting the competition up into TWO categories!

• Elementary School
• Middle School
🤘🏽 CATEGORY 2
• High School
• Young Adult (under 25yo) —
So if you’re in a band, a band manager, a music studio manager, or a public/private school or collegiate music director, make sure to register your bands to participate in the competition this year!
