The most precious thing I’ve seen in a while - A tiny eastern Newt living under a mushroom of the same color.

We got to travel to Vermont last weekend to visit some friends. I saw a hardwood deciduous forest for the first time and it was so beautiful even though the leaves had already fallen.

It’s almost time for me to take my winter hiatus y’all! We have two more farmer’s markets , a handful of workshops, and one private group. A custom botanical backdrop for and a surprise launch of an art project I’ve been working on for a while.

If you want to be the first to know about things and stay in touch over the winter, join my newsletter on my website homepage!

Hope this sweet image brightens your day ❤️

Over the past few years, the gopher problem has been getting worse. Part of being a no-till farm means that root eating creatures make their homes in our fields. Our interplanting with semi permanent trees and shrubs is providing additional undisturbed shelter for them as the trees establish. Last winter they destroyed all but 2 of my poppy plants and took out a lot of sunnies this fall. Hoping to have a little less loss this coming year. Shout out to Alija for being the gopher guy .mujic ! He also took this photo which I find incredibly beautiful.

Friday night was such a dream. To everyone who came to our Farm to Table- Field to Vase dinner, Thank you!!! Y’all made the farm feel so alive! Something feels incredibly right about community farm gatherings, to share food and flowers on the land that grew them. We are so grateful for all the local farmers who’s hands grew the food and to for your passion and talent in putting it all together in such a delicious way.
Community is everything. 🌻🌻🌻

Had to do something today that was strictly for my joy. Alija and I made our first finished batch of compost. All of our kitchen scraps from the past 2 years turned into beautiful soil. What a gratifying feeling. We sifted it and added coco choir and vermiculite for fluff and drainage.

Used this as cover soil this morning for direct seeding native plants in the bed at the entry to our home. Some were purchased and others we’ve collected on backpacking trips and adventures around CA. Taking death and decay and turning it into life all in one morning.

The spot gets a lot of rain run off from the eaves of the house so we went with more water loving riparian plants. Evening primrose, nettles, mugwort, ca lettuce, baby blue eyes, astragalus, bee plant, goldenrod, and a more.

I can’t wait to walk into our home and be greeted by such a living reminder of all the places we’ve been, the wild places we hold dear, and all the amazing meals we’ve shard and gardens grown over the years all in one patch of earth. Native Plants Rule!

It’s that magical day of the year when the light and darkness are in perfect balance.
Tonight we are roasting acorn squash over the fire pit outside. We stuffed them with venison, elderberries from , morels from spring and wild blueberries from our local mountains. Side of nettle barley! It feels good to eat this way.

I hope this season brings you balance in all ways! Happy Equinox 🌗

Fall 2022 Equinox is tomorrow.
I don’t know about y’all but summer felt incredibly relentless this year and I’m feeling relieved and inspired with this cooler weather. (Insert huge sigh of relief)

To celebrate the change in seasons, I’ll be having a wreath sale tomorrow starting at 4pm. Local folks only- I can’t ship these delicate beauties. Free pick up from my farm (10 mins north of Fresno) or Saturday morning.

Add $7 for local delivery Monday (9/26)

Payment is through Venmo.

Set a reminder for 4pm and tune into my stories if you feel a wreath is in your future 🙌🏼

Sometimes you go mushroom hunting and find zero mushrooms but stumble across a magically expansive wild blueberry patch. There were definitely fairies present and I somehow feel like it was all a dream.

Dirty hands, clean money. Been really feeling this lately. I don’t make a whole lot, but I feel good about what I do. I feel wealthy in a lot of ways that are more important than cash. I feel wealthy in friendships and love, in community and meaningful work. Thanks for being here :)

We’re stoked to announce our Farm to Table - Field to Vase dinner and I are hosting at the farm. Friday October 14th at 5:30 PM

Chauncey from Unir Dining will be serving a beautifully plated 3 course meal using locally grown produce, and I’ll be decorating the tables with flowers literally grown a few feet away from where we’ll be sharing a meal. How magical is that? Fresno needs more farm parties in my humble opinion. Connecting with our local growers and building community around that has always been a passion of mine. While the Farm-To-Table movement has gained more attention in the past decade, it’s mostly associated with food, which is great, but what about flowers? I believe that we also need beauty. While food feeds the body, flowers feed the soul. So we’re bringing the two together for what we hope will be a deeply nourishing experience; eating super locally grown food and enjoying locally grown flowers all while connection with each other and building a sense of community. Tickets are available on Eventbright NOW (y'all are the first to know about them). They’re $120 each, but believe me, these are honest prices for what small-scale local food costs, while accounting for living wages for everyone involved in this process. It truly takes a village. This isn’t just our gust chef and myself; it’s my farm helpers whom I pay well, Chauncey’s time and his employees, and all the many small-scale farmers who grew the food we’ll be enjoying. Visit the link in my bio to claim your seat.

Sourcing from many growers and producers and more! Find in there too!

Hey Y’all! Here is a bouquet of my favorite zinnias- benary’s giant salmon rose- here to tell you that the FALL CSA Subscriptions are live on my website!!!

Having flowers in one’s home makes it feel so much more relaxing. I’ve grown a lot of muted warm tones this season. Peaches, burgundies and brown flowers for life baby.

The Fall CSA will start September 21 (the day before the Autumnal Equinox)! It will proceed every two weeks until November 30th for a total of 6 big luscious bouquets throughout the fall season.

Payment is auto withdrawal for 3 months beginning on the date you sign up so you’ll be paying in advance for your blooms. It is NOT auto renewing, so you don’t need to go through any effort to cancel!

Follow the link in my bio to my website where I’ve also created a !!NEWSLETTER!! sign up form on the homepage!!

While the world was falling to pieces last weekend.. we were 100% oblivious. Out of service. Came home to bad news left and right. Politically, personally, and more! 😵‍💫

What I have to say is a long rambling patchwork of things that might seem unrelated but I think are connected….

Capitalism is a dying beast. This is a Fascist power grab which has been building for decades. “Freedoms” have been taken from us for a long time but now they’re being taken unabashedly. This can go one of two ways; To a fascist model, or to a socialistic model. Either we care for people or we stuff the pockets of the ultra wealthy. The later seems the probable.

I fu***ng hate politics. I’m just a human that cares about all of life and people and the biggest threat to the majority of people and our planet here in the U.S. of poo poo is the white supremacist capitalist patriarchy.

In nature, everything just seems to coexisting so naturally and magically as if it was meant to be that way…and it is. Although it’s easy to forget, taking time to remember that we aren’t separate from this magic is so important. Drinking water straight from a creek, eating wild foods, planting fu***ng flowers in some natural hot springs. Pulling invasives and petting horses. Just going outside and feeling like your a part of the magic. Being with people we love. Getting caught in thunderstorms…

I’ve heard people say after a time in the back country: “It’s time to go ….. CONTINUED IN COMMENTS…
