One year ago, I had the honor of photographing Julie and Ian’s wedding, where their sweet daughter Makayla was right there by their side. This week, I got to photograph them again for their anniversary. 💕 Watching their love as a family continue to grow is such a joy!

Julie and I have stayed connected through social media and she has been amazing over the past year, sending referrals my way and supporting my business has meant so much to me. For the past 11 years, I have been so lucky to capture the Case Family’s annual memories! From maternity and newborn photos to family portraits and even their vow renewal, we’ve shared so many special milestones together. One of my favorite traditions with them is the iconic “Case Family Tower,” which Dad, Jim, invented 5 years ago. Lincoln, their sweet 10 year old son, has also been my mini assistant since he was 6, always snapping a few photos of his parents each time. I’m so grateful for the trust and friendship we’ve built and can’t wait to continue capturing their journey for years to come! ❤️📸

On September 23rd, 2007, I lost my dear friend Lucy suddenly and tragically. We were both just 13 years old, and she was the kindest, most innocent soul. Even though we’d been friends since elementary school, I regretfully only have three photos with her. I am going to make myself sound old here, but the iPhone wasn’t a thing yet. After her passing, I became obsessed with documenting all of life’s moments (not just the perfect ones), realizing how fleeting and precious they are.

Today, I spent the day with my mom and our awesome team photographer, Tenessa, doing a branding shoot to commemorate growth on this sad but special day. The number 23 first haunted me, but then I looked at it as a loving sign from my friend.

At 17, I became a mom and photos became even more important. When my son turned one, I launched Shayla Tiare Photography with a mission to professionally capture as many families memories as possible. 12 years later, I’m so very grateful to still be living in my hometown in Upcountry, Maui, running my business full-time, and now a mother to three and a stepson. I am forever grateful for all of life’s experiences that have shaped me into who I am today.

Capturing Lifes Most Precious Moments

Aloha,

My name is Shayla Tiare Collins. I was born and raised on this beautiful island of Maui, Hawaii. Family is very important to me. I’m so lucky to have a very active, Taekwondo loving, mountain biking, skateboarding, eight-year-old son, and a gorgeous four-year-old daughter.

When I’m not behind the camera, I love spending quality time with my family and friends- hiking, swimming, horseback riding, paddle boarding, and bike riding. My son and I are also very involved with Kiffmann Taekwondo. And on occasion, I work at our family’s bike shop, Krank Cycles, located in Makawao, Maui. I also own a custom design and crafting business, Maui Made Customs. I make adorable photo props, custom clothing, wedding & party decorations, & much more.

I love Maui and all the beauty there is to offer & can’t wait to hear about the vision you have for your wedding day or portrait session.
