In Loving Memory of Beth (aka Bethie) πŸ”πŸ˜’

I am a little late in posting this sad news. It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our dear Beth. She was one of our first girls and brought so much laughter with her shenanigans and will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

Thank you to everyone who loved her and enjoyed her eggs.

Thank you to those of you who have offered to share your starter, tips and tricks. A friend did gift me a starter which I made my first loaf from. I also started one again and it was sucessful. My starter pictured is active and bubbly. I have been testing recipes and techniques. The scoring has been the most challenging.

Sourdough Starter Day 7. Sometimes the kitchen is all about trial and error and a whole lot of patience. My first attempt is a fail. πŸ˜’ I will be trying again tomorrow, making a few adjustments.

Sourdough Starter Day 5: Bubbly and aromatic but still not doubling in size. I did the float test and it failed. I decided to discard more than half. Feed with 1 cup of all purpose flour and 1/2 cup of water.

Sourdough Starter Day 4: Ok so it is a bit more 'liquidy' than yesterday and maybe not as bubbly. Definately has a strong aroma. Yesterday I closed the lid on top but I think it is supposed to get some air, so I will tilt the lid today. We will see if this has any effect tomorrow.

Repeat discard half, add 1 cup of flour, 1/2 cup of water. Mix well and set aside.

Today, I want to challenge my kitchen skills with starting my own Sourdough Starter. Step One: Glass container with air tight seal. 1 cup of All Purpose Flour and 1/2 cup of Water. Mix wll, cover loosely and set on the counter for 24 hours. Now we wait 24 hours for the next step.
