Rather than blaming the decline of traditional Halloween trick-or-treating on Trunk or Treat events, it would be more accurate to acknowledge the lack of community engagement and planning. Those who express dissatisfaction with the current state of Halloween celebrations are often unwilling to participate in neighborhood meetings or collaborate with others to create a safe and enjoyable experience. Furthermore, the fact that many residents are unfamiliar with their immediate neighbors underscores the need for community-building initiatives. Instead of criticizing volunteers who organize Trunk or Treat events, we should recognize their efforts to provide a secure and festive environment for children.
