Second Sunday Sounds @ Six--McCall’s Free Community Recital Series
In October 2006, as an outreach to the McCall community, in an effort to foster interest in the performing arts and music education, and encourage proficiency in fine musicians, the McCall Community Congregational Church established Second Sunday Sounds @ Six, McCall’s free community recital series. PERFORMANCE LOCATION: Community Congregational Church (UCC), 901 1st Street, McCall, Idaho
PERFORMANCE TIME: 6:00 pm
PERFORMANCE DETAILS: Minimum 50 minutes (not to exceed 75) of sacred or classical music performed by any instrumental and/or vocal ensemble of any size or configuration
AVAILABLE INSTRUMENTS:
• 2005 Allen Renaissance Quantum Q345 Digital Organ [3 manuals, 58 stops, 232 voices] (Four individually-voiced digital suites: American Classic, French Romantic, English Cathedral, & Neo-baroque)
• 1998 Knabe & Sons 5’6’’ Grand Piano
ARTIST COMPENSATION:
• $400 for soloists, $500 for duos, and $600 for ensembles of three or more plus overnight lodging if required
• $1,000 for artists and ensembles of note and proven accomplishment (limited to five annually) plus overnight lodging if required
DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION: Usually in November
ADMISSION: Free to public
Artists must submit an application which includes artist contact information, a completed W-9, a one-page resume of the principal artist or ensemble leader, the ensemble name, a title or theme for the program, a detailed list of proposed compositions to be performed (including correct titles [and catalog numbers, where appropriate], composers’ names, composers’ birth and death dates, and estimated performance times for each piece), a short appropriate biographical sketch of each performer (not to exceed 350 words), and any other pertinent information appropriate for a printed recital program. Artists with insufficient educational credentials (at least two years study as a music major at an accredited university) or professional performance experience (at least five years) will be required to submit a recording which includes at least two of the proposed recital pieces. Second Sunday Sounds @ Six is funded by the McCall Community Congregational Church, the McCall Music Society, and through donations from our generous patrons.
