It’s a new year and I think it’s time for a chat about my business and how it’s a little different than what you may have seen before. 💐

Our area is filled with so many thriving florists businesses. I like to think of them as mostly “traditional”. They do daily deliveries, funeral work. Holiday specials like Valentines and Mother’s Day, and they also do weddings and events. In other words, they do it ALL! I’ve been there, I’ve done that, and I’ve loved it! However, it is busy and intense! A traditional florist can easily have a schedule that is 7 full days a week with several employees.

As a mom of (almost) 3 babies, I simply had to choose a different business model.

That is why I have a niche market of Weddings and Events! I can decide when I want to book my weddings and then it is 2-4 days of crazy work that week in my workshop, which is right beside my house. ☺️ It is a perfect set up for this phase of life I am in. It is a nice bonus that weddings are and always have been my favorite work to do. 😍

There may come a day where I want to begin adding other components to my business, but not anytime soon. I have found there is efficiency in specialization!

I’m so thankful to all of my brides that entrusted me with their flowers this year!! 🫶🏻🤍

I am looking forward to a time of rest this winter and then I’m ready to hit it hard in 2025. I still have some availability in January-April. May is fully booked. 🙌🏻

✨June and July I am taking off for maternity leave! Baby #3 is joining us in June. 🤩

Unpopular florist opinion over here 🙋🏽‍♀️

I don’t use recipes. Ever.

If you didn’t know, it’s standard for florists to follow recipes for all of their arrangements. It tells you exactly how many stems of each flower and type of greenery that you “need.”

I just cannot make myself stick with a floral recipe. If the recipe called for 3 roses, but I think it needs 4, or 7, then I’m adding them.

My husband fusses about my business mindset, and that’s because it’s non-existent. 😅 This is my job, but it is my art! The beauty is more important than the profit margin! 🤷🏽‍♀️

So I will continue to over plan, over buy, and over create because each beautiful wedding is worth it! And I’m the boss, so I can. 🤩

Fall is here in full swing, but I’m still swooning over this summer wedding. Classic and BEAUTIFUL.

Not to mention the messaging, quoting, ordering, prep work, flower processing, bucket scrubbing, and trash clean up. There’s much much more to this job than meets the eye, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world.🌎💫So thankful for all of my amazing brides that have entrusted me with their flowers. 🥹✨Find me at a venue near you with a broom in hand. 😅🧹

30 minutes of work to 30 seconds! If only I could work that fast in real life. I love how this wild arbor piece came together! 🤩

I’ve found that the skills required to be a florist and a mom overlap more often than you would think. You have to be detail oriented and plan ahead. Make changes to that plan at a moments notice. Multitask x100. Put in long hours! Clean up LOTS of messes. Get creative and have some fun. 🤩 As the old saying says, “Do something you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.” I’m finding that to be so true. I’m thanking God for these 2 wonderful jobs that I have and for the support system around me that helps me keep it all going. Isn’t this breathtaking?! I wish yall could see this view in person. 😍 This was my first floor arch and now I need someone else to order one because that was SO MUCH FUN. I love my job! Thank you God for these experiences!
