Did you know that The Greenspace was named a 2023 Great Place in Pennsylvania by the state chapter of the American Planning Association (APA-PA)? It's true! In announcing the award, the APA-PA noted that the site provides “a vibrant community gathering place that incorporates native landscaping, streetscape improvements, a performance stage, benches, colorful shade umbrellas, solar-powered umbrella tables that provide free Wi-Fi and evening lighting, and an Americans with Disabilities Act-accessible walkway. Unique to the design is that the painted walkway has the appearance of a stream to highlight historic Mill Run that runs underneath.”

Development of The Greenspace was undertaken as a collaboration between The Arc Crawford County, the City of Meadville, and the Art-Environment Initiative. Seasonal events are held in this open air venue for celebrating the arts, culture, wellness and community!
Support for The Greenspace came from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts’ (PCA) Creative Communities Initiative and the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Keystone program, with additional local support from The Arc Foundation, Marquette Savings Bank, the RDL Family Foundation, Porter Consulting Engineers, and Allegheny College, the city of Meadville, and more than 100 community participants.
