Friday ( yesterday ) was my last day at the Rose Palace. I was sad to see the experience end and will hopefully have the opportunity to be part of this again...I would love to have this become and annual adventure. I met many people that have been doing this for years~ the longest being 27 years ! It does have a way of getting in your blood.....
Floral arrangements being created in Oasis were completed today, fresh greenery added to form trees, birds covered in carnation petals to simulate feathers....and beans and seeds.....lots and lots of beans and seeds. Corn husks were ironed, then cut and place on the Lutheran float to look like adobe .
Who knew blenders played a part in float building ? They do.....any material can be turned into a powder and applied to all surfaces. The " milkshake,milkshake,smoothie" chant is heard over the sound of the machines turning statice, rice and strawflowers into fine powder.....
There were still thousands of roses to be tubes, mums to be glued , and other fresh flowers to be applied......
