THE GATEWAY MUSIC FESTIVAL MAY 9th FROM 2pm-MIDNIGHT. THERE WILL BE MUSIC, BEER (21 and older) AND FOOD!!
The gateway music festival came about when two friends, Josh & Brad, dreamed of one day producing live music festivals. Josh, being from Merced suggested that Merced would be a perfect launching pad for a festival celebrating music, food and good times. With the growing population of UC Merced students and a population weary of traveling to Fresno and Modesto for shows, Merced seemed ripe to bring local bands as well as popular music acts from other parts of California. The two friends then began working with Les _____, the owner of O'Ryleigh's bar and grill. Les, with his years of experience putting on shows and outdoor music events, was a perfect fit in the formation of the music festival.
The Gateway Music festival was on it's way to becoming a reality. Josh, Brad & Les put their heads and talents together and chose bands carefully to fit into a genre of Reggae, ska and psychedelic rock for the festival. The venue of Canal St. in Merced was naturally chosen due to the location of O'Ryleigh's being so close to the city center. In just a few weeks, the dream will come to fruition with Canal street being shut down May 9th from 2pm - midnight and featuring, "The Stone Foxes." The trio hopes this will be the first in a series of outdoor music festivals to rock downtown Merced and bring live music to the gateway of Yosemite.
The Gateway Music Festival will feature 11 bands on May 9th 2015. Canal St. will be shut down to feature a large stage and small DJ area. Food, Drinks and Music is the order of the day.
