Fun Events with a Charitable Twist!! We believe that if everyone does a little something, it adds up to something great!
It all started in 1999 when my roommates (and their dogs) moved out. I saw a news article that stated how many animals were euthanized in Maricopa county. It made me sad and made me want to DO something, so I started fostering boxers. The more I learned, the deeper I got into the rescue community. Fundraising events became my passion; they allow me to help multiple groups in a variety of ways. Events are a great platform to meet new adopters, fosters, supporters, and volunteers. I started volunteering at the “pound” (Maricopa County Animal Care and Control), after asking the comedian volunteers to shadow a volunteer there so they could see what our pet overpopulation problems looks like. I realized I could be a volunteer there AND help more pets. My passion then focused on events with education, because it is sometimes a lack of knowledge that leads to problems.
Simple facts: Puppies can get pregnant at 6 months and have 2 litters per year! Kittens can get pregnant at 4 months and have 3 litters per year! YIKES! Brothers will get their sisters pregnant; they don’t understand the relationship and social norms don’t exist. Unfixed animals can have serious health issues (pyrometra, testicular cancer, prostate issues, etc.). If you feed the outdoor (feral cats) you must FIX them. Baby kittens born outside of a home often die horrible deaths from disease or predators! It is not enough to love them. You need to educate and advocate for them. You don’t know what you don’t know... until there is a problem.
We will continue to host events, post helpful information, share foster dogs, and help others. Because together we are better and can make a difference. Take a look at our upcoming events and join us! Sign up for information on upcoming events http://goo.gl/forms/6V3aMGClKy
