Here are a couple wedding shows for the month of January. A Bridal Affair is a smaller show but still packs a punch. The Dayton Bridal Show at the Nutter Center is the biggest one around; go hungry because there are a ton of samples.

Did you get something shiny for the New Year holiday? Congratulations on your engagement!
Are you considering going to an upcoming bridal show? They certainly are fun but can be overwhelming! Here's some tips to help you out.

~Create an e-mail address JUST for your wedding. Use this one at the bridal show to give to vendors and for anything wedding related.

~Use a return address label and print your information on them. Include your names, e-mail address, phone number, wedding date and venue if you have those set. Instead of taking the time to write the information on vendor forms at the show, just slap the sticker on and BAM! Done.

~Bring a friend, mom, fiancé, etc. You'll need someone to help carry your bag of goodies and to help steer you away from making a rash decision.

~There will be a TON of specials and offers you won't want to pass up, but don't book anyone at the show. Unless you have researched ahead of time and go in knowing you want to book a certain vendor, I would not recommend signing on with them until you know they are reputable.

One of my favorite things about weddings is a good speech. It doesn't matter if a bridesmaid creates a rap, a groomsman reads from his phone at warp speed, or if dad takes 15 minutes. The stories told and tears shed bring everyone together and remind us why we are here.
