"German for Singers at Middlebury" is an intensive German language immersion program, held annually as part of Middlebury's prestigious German Summer Language School. We welcome singers of all ages who have a keen interest in learning German (and not just pronouncing it)--and in turn, we guarantee you a summer rich with linguistic, cultural and musical highlights. You meet like-minded colleagues a

nd friends, will work with native speakers on all aspects of performing German repertoire on the concert and operatic stage--and will come out of these seven weeks fully able to communicate in German, way beyond simple survival skills.

T-5--five more days until opening of this year's "German for Singers" project, Mozart's "Die Gärtnerin aus Liebe". It has been such fun to work on this, we are looking forward to sharing it with our audiences on Friday and Saturday next week. And then--off to Germany once again for shows between 08/21 and 08/24 in Scharbeutz!

Excited to share our first tentative plans for our 2025 session! I would so love to do some sort of "Zauberflöte" if we can get the right voices (hint: are YOU one of those? Please apply, we would love to have you!), and we have been invited back to perform in Germany. Wouldn't it be so much fun to bring some "Middlebury Magic" to the Baltic Sea next August? I know our price tag seems prohibitive, but we have significant financial support available. It's performance weekend 2024 with our fun production of "Die Fledermaus". Opening night was tonight, and it was so fun to perform in front of the German School and people from our community. Two weeks left to apply for this summer's "German for Singers"! Come on, guys, we know you are out-there--we CAN do an opera with lots of female roles, but do you really want to miss out on a whole summer of wonderful "languaging", musical fun, and a free performance trip to Germany?
