Without realizing it, I've become a High School Senior Photographer. Most of my work is seniors, and most of my best work is seniors. I certainly have a huge amount of fun doing senior portraits. Both boys and girls bring such a different but awesome energy!

A sincere congrats to Hannah, Marcus, Kaleb, and Mason this year! You're off to do great things! From the trades to florists, you guys are shining! So excited for you and your futures!

I did my own kiddos senior pictures this year.

I've been picturing this moment since 2006, when I started working at Sears Portrait Studio, and my son Mason was just 2 months old. This boy has been in front of a professional camera a surprising amount of times. More than any of my other 3 boys combined probably. He has always been a natural while doing pictures, and the pictures I take of him have always been great, and a BREEZE.

I'm so excited to go looking back at the thousands of pictures I've taken through the years to celebrate Mason's amazing public school journey coming to an end.

Mason graduating highschool truly might be my most proud parent moment. I couldn't have done it without my parents for helping Mason get here.

Congratulations to my son, and all the 2024 seniors and their families. I'm so happy for you!

I'm thrilled I have reached over 100 likes/follows (not sure really the difference these days), and love you ALL for taking the time to follow me!

Facebook and the internet really make one jump through a LOT of hoops to be seen. I'm working hard to learn these tricks, and have found interaction is SUPER important.

What more would you like to see from me?? I'd like to add more content besides just my portraits. But if you want to see more specific genres, or more from specific sessions, say it! Im here for it.

I've had several photographers ask me for tutorial videos of using AI to enhance my photos, and how I use digital backgrounds. I'm working on doing this with a comedy spin. Lol.

I've been told to do educational or behind the scenes stuff. You'd think having 3 kids w devices I'd get some BTS videos or pictures, but its rare. Lol. Anyone know of a student videographer that needs a project?

I wanted to do some sort of wrap up of 2023, but I really just got back to it a few short months ago. I was going to make a slideshow, but it was short. 😅 Instead, I thought I'd share some history of Kiley-esque and where I've been, and where I'm going as a photographer and entrepreneur.

Around August is when I picked up my camera and promoting my business after over a year off. Things were slooooow going. I had my 4th baby in 2022, and along with some other personal matters rattling my life, I had postpartum depression that significantly impacted me and my world. I also suffer from depression and anxiety on a good day, and ADHD. I have some other health issues as well. I had many hurdles ahead of me to reach my dream business.

They say "if you love it, let it go. If it comes back, it was meant to be." Photography has been that thing that ALWAYS comes back to me. My business has ALWAYS come back to me. I've revamped a dozen times in the last 15 years. I've used several names, had several logos, I've aimed for specific audiences, changed prices and offerings over and over. I've had dozens of thrilled customers, and 1 unhappy one since my first year in business.

in September I rebranded after studying everything from website design to my local market. I offered free sessions to build my portfolio up with my new camera. I'd went from a beginner Nikon DSLR to a Nikon mirrorless, and the quality of my images were exponentially better. I got so much practice, and did better financially than any other month I'd ever had. I had a great amount of support, and happy clients. I set my prices at a "reasonable" and "affordable" rate. I was doing more in person sales and consultations. I was getting there!

But something was falling short. The work was running me ragged. I was doing good work, but I am always aiming for excellence. I was spending hours on my clients (which I love to do) but falling short on everything else. Balance has never been my strong suit. When it came down to it, I was making minimum wage and working overtime, and not producing my best in business or at home.

But burn out comes with being a business owner doesn't it?

I guess not. I did a whole bunch of internet searching to figure out what I could do differently. I finally found exactly what I was looking for in a Facebook group for photographers run by a photography mentor and business coach and quickly found my favorite place in the interwebs. Although it's common in the photography industry, and I've been told time and time again, I realized I really have been selling myself short.

✨a memorable empowering experience
✨beautiful relationships with my clients.

I've achieved that. Now it's time to get paid for it. I'm moving on up to the luxury market.

Kiley-esque is in a really good spot right now, because I've learned everything I need to know to grow something I've wanted for a very long time: a luxury brand that provides a luxury experience. I've learned how to make that sustainable, and work for me and my family. I've learned who my dream clients are, and how to work with them. I've learned I'm good enough.

🥳The most exciting thing I have changed is I finally can provide my clients with an indoor space! This is HUGE! I started at Sears Portrait Studio and with flash photography. I've not had the opportunity since 2010 to do real studio work, and this is going to expand my offerings so much. 🍾

I'm focusing mainly on customized photo shoots for pro branding and headshots, families, highschool seniors, and beauty. (think Vogue).

Early in 2024 I'm going to be revealing everything I'll be offering. I have a LOT of behind the scenes work to do, and I can't wait to share what luxury services all entails. For the next few weeks, I'm not taking any new clients, but will be ready to fill my calendar soon!
