The Story Behind BEEHOLD The Traveling Charcuterie
Funny thing is, that was NOT going to be the name of the business! Originally, the name was going to be "The Sleeping Bee Traveling Charcuterie, inspired by a tattoo I got in 2023 after a life changing event that made me realize that if I don’t slow down and take care of myself, I would work myself to the ground. This sparked the idea of queen bees and how much they work, but they always take the time to rest. However, after meeting with a dear friend (creator of Betsy the Bee), she presented me a question: But is she still sleeping? Huh, well that was unexpected, but NO she is NOT sleeping anymore! If you haven't guessed yet, I am the bee! I am far from asleep and ready to move!
But, how did we get here? After an unexpected career change in 2024, I vowed that my next move would be something new, something different, but most importantly, something exciting! So, here we are at 42 years of age, starting my new adventure. I have always been a fan of outdoor activities, from wineries and breweries to farmer's markets and outdoor concerts and like most people I know, I always look forward to the various snacky-poos I could find! One day after scrolling social media, as one does when they are unemployed, I came across a video of a woman who sold everything and opened a charcuterie cart on a beach on a tropical island, you go girl! Like anyone else, I mumbled something like "that's so cool," and continued swiping, but something told me to go back and save that video.
What a fantastic and unique idea! I just couldn't shake off the possibility that I could do that! Now, I did my island living back in my twenties, so that is out. I mean who needs those perfect warm tropical breezes, right? Anyway, she focused on the island's freshest local produce to serve and then it clicked! It may not be a tropical island, but we live in such an amazing area that provides some of the most delicious flavors, why not bring those flavors to our community and beyond? And that my friends, is how BEEHOLD The Traveling Charcuterie was created!
BEEHOLD is my way of celebrating the flavors of our local farms while creating beautiful, curated snack experiences for your next winery visit, outdoor concert, or cozy indoor gathering. You pick the size and the ingredients, and we'll bring it to life--locally sourced and lovingly curated, of course.
