Remembering James Martin Hannett, who would have celebrated his 75th birthday today.

Martin was pivotal in the British music scene as a record producer, musician, and original partner/director at Tony Wilson's Factory Records. His influential work spanned a roster of iconic artists, including Joy Division, the Durutti Column, Magazine, John Cooper Clarke, New Order, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, and Happy Mondays.

Here he is with Bernard Sumner and an Arp Omni 2 paired with a Powertran Transcendent 2000. These synthesizers give Joy Division tracks like "Decades" and "Heart and soul" their distinctive sound.
