Renaissance Faire season is nearly upon us! Bring life and dimension to your elf ears with and this simple tutorial! (This tutorial uses a fair skin tone but the same steps apply to any complexion!)

Step 1: Prime your prosthetic. We used Ben Nye cream rouge in carnation pink.
Step 2: Underpaint. Using a stippling sponge, dab on a layer of red paint. This will create the illusion of blood vessels under the skin, making I look more "alive." We used Ben Nye FX creme colors in Blood Red. Once your blood vessels are on, apply a thin layer of setting powder.
Step 3: Apply foundation color. Starting from the base of the ear, blend your foundation color out to the tip of the ear. Having a heavier layer of make up at the bottom of the ear will leave the tips with a natural looking blush. For this pair of ears, we chose Ben Nye creme foundation in creamy beige. Use setting powder after this step as well.
Step 4: add highlights and shadows to create dimension. Our shadows were created with Ben Nye ressed eye shadow on brownberry and the powder blush in victorian rose. The highlights were done with the eyeshadow color banana.
Step 5: Seal with Ben Nye setting spray and your ears are ready to wear!

Note: in the final picture, the ears are not glued down. Additional steps are requires to blend those seams!
