An artsy space deserved artsy centerpieces.

I came across these handmade, hand painted lanterns at an exhibition in Mumbai - where an agency helps small traditional artists conceptualize & market usable products out of their traditional art forms. In this case the artists made leather puppets for generations, but now market their art as lampshades among other products.

They were so cute and colorful, I knew I had to have them.

I loved seeing them in the Guthrie space- a juxtaposition of Indian culture, in an iconic cultural space in Minneapolis, of modern and traditional. Added to this vibe with live tabla in the background.

Perfect for this intentional, fusion wedding.

So many of the weddings we design and provide rentals for are simple and down to earth celebrations! Here we designed the ceremony with tropical greens & marigold garlands, and decorated the hall with pale green tablecloths, golden lanterns, & minimalist urli bowls.

Now, I may not bat an eye if guests come to the reception hall early (see my previous post), but I will absolutely step in and very nicely guide guests to leave an aisle like this before the wedding has begun!

When the couple has asked for an "aisle moment" and have florals lining the aisle, a reflective runner (as pictured here ) or candles along the aisle or a floral mandala or carefully laid petals, etc - there is a barrier to entry for a reason. Glass gets broken, flowers get damaged, footprints and tears ruin the pristine look - and we have had to delay ceremonies to get things cleaned up and reorganized after spills and mishaps. No one means to cause damage, but one person crossing a barrier means someone else follows, kids start jumping over arrangements, water get spilled and chaos ensues.

So be a nice wedding guest, resist your urge for the prettiest of pics and take your aisle selfies from the end of the aisle, or wait til after the ceremony! Or use the AI tools and edit yourselves in!
