One big moment you shine on your wedding day is your walk down the aisle. It’s the first time your guests—and maybe even your soon-to-be spouse—will see you glowing in your wedding dress, and it marks the very start of your marriage journey with your partner. While some brides dream of recreating the famed scene from 'Father of the Bride', there are plenty of unique ways to walk down the aisle at your wedding.

MAYDAY MAYDAY!!

Let's talk about those SOS moments at a wedding.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
On this occasion, we are referring to the "Bridesmaid Survival Kit" but, what is it? -you may ask, well is a cache of beauty, fashion + first aid items that the bridal party should have on the wedding day. The items are either gathered by bridesmaids before the wedding or gifted by the bride.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You are probably thinking "Why have bridesmaid survival kits when I already made an emergency kit for myself?" Well, being over-prepared is the best-case scenario for any worst-case situations that could befall your day.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There are so many items that serve a dual purpose:

🧷 Safety pins are the duct tape of the wedding world. They can hem a dress, they can connect bra straps to dresses, and if the bride’s bustle ends up being too heavy, a few added safety pins can seamlessly support the weight.

🩹 Bandaids can prevent irritation from sequins near the underarm area.

🪒 Deodorant is, of course, used for underarms, but it can also prevent thigh chafing and be applied to the heel to prevent blisters caused by not-too-broken-in shoes.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You can’t gamble on your glam squad having enough extras for everyone. Your hair & makeup artists will likely have things like bobby pins + blotting papers, but don’t count on them magically having other emergency items—their job is to focus on making everyone look their best. The same goes for your venue coordinator or bridal assistant: If you’re getting married at a full-service venue, they’ll likely have some items to spare, but it’s up to you (and your planner, if you have one) to make sure that your crew is taken care of when it comes down to it.

A few of the BASIC items to keep handy are: Fashion tape, Bandaids, Safety pins, Stain remover pens, Deodorant, Eye drops, Q-tips, Nail file, Sunscreen, Bug spray.

BE STILL AND KNOW!

60 long days have already gone by since accident 😱 can't believe it's been that much time and honesty I don't want it to end. -Don't get me wrong, I want my husband to be 100% recovered, I just don't want this special time to change.

It's been amazing to have him with me 24/7 'literally' -no that I didn't before 🤪 but this time has been different. You learn a lot from your spouse when he/she is sick or injured, and they learn a lot from you too!! Our love language is acts of service so while I've enjoyed so much taking care of him, driving him to every appointment, making sure he takes his meds, does his exercises & rests in between 😊 he has also had a great time making sure my coffee is fresh and hot in the mornings, my side of the bed is warm before I get in, my electronic devices are fully charged so they'll last throughout my busy days, and so much more -including some nice back rubs! 🤗

God knew we needed this time together, we are sure He wanted us to bond more & make our marriage + relationship stronger, no doubt! The countless blessings that had come during this time of "REST" are beyond our understanding, and we are thankful for each of them. 🤍 -Psl 46:10

Sometimes we have to see the bigger picture. It was indeed scary to see my husband unable to walk or move but that was not the point of it all; you see, we develop this "tunnel vision" skill that doesn't allow us to use our "peripheral vision," we just see what's in front of us and not what is beside us, we want so bad our present circumstances to change that we forget how to stay put, we are so constantly moving that we freak out when we have to pause for a bit. Without my husband's injury, we would have never experienced the blessings of your prayers, the outpouring of your love & concern, the fellowship with those who visited, the special time with our families, the new coffee places we discovered 😝 and so much more.

Friend, if you've found a stop in the road, don't worry, stay still, enjoy this time. There's more ahead for sure, but there's enough around too, you just have to see it. 💕

PICTURE PERFECT!

With the popularity of smartphones capable of taking great pictures, every guest thinks they can get the perfect wedding picture. The trouble is they often get in the way of the real photographer.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This is a growing problem and it often means the happy couple doesn’t get the shots they paid for.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A simple piece of advice for guests is, “Make sure the professional photographer isn’t going for the same shot (even better if you join UNPLUGGED to the celebration). And NEVER upload any photos from a wedding to social media until after the couple does.”

FEELING OVERWHELMED?

Overwhelm is not something that happens to you, it is something you create, this "feeling" is something often used as an excuse to not accomplish what you are meant to, something that can leave you paralyzed and unable to make a choice.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here are 4 THOUGHTS THAT KEEP YOU IN OVERWHELM that you need to start removing from your mind and for your sanity.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. Black & White Thinking - You're thinking in extremes. Thoughts like: "If I can't handle all of it, I can't handle any of it." This causes you to freeze in overwhelm.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. 'Should' Thinking - This is our brain's way of setting expectations for ourselves. "I should be able to balance everything." Such thinking leads to self-judgement and stops being helpful when you can't meet the expectations.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3.Perfectionist Thinking - This is when you become so focused on the little details that you lose sight of the end goal. Perfectionist thinking can become debilitating.

4. People-Pleasing Thoughts - You end up with a long to-do list of everyone else's priorities, and you never accomplish your own goals.

GLAMOROUS FROM HEAD TO TOE 👠

New shoes are every woman's joy 😁 🙃 and much more so on their wedding day! All brides spend a significant amount of time searching for the perfect, elegant fit that the last thing they want is not to be able to wear them all day because they're uncomfortable 😬

Avoid the unnecessary foot pain 🩹 (AKA utter agony 🤣) and follow these tips:

1. START SLOW: Wear them in short periods of time to break into them without suffering. Start this about 3 weeks before the wedding for 15 - 20 minutes and try increasing 15 minutes every time. Avoid wearing them all day the first time or else you’ll probably end up with blisters and a very bad mood.

2. GET SUPPORT: To make sure you are at optimal comfort on your wedding day, get gel inserts for your shoes. They come in all shapes, sizes and types.

3. RUB DEODORANT: If your shoes have an area (straps, elastics, etc.) that rubs you the wrong way 😝 try rubbing deodorant to the area of your skin where that's happening to eliminate the pain.

VOILÁ! You've breaking into your new shoes and you're ready to wear them all day!

Comes after learning from mistakes and missteps

You won't have the perfect approach right away, don't stress out, and enjoy your journey. Mistakes and missteps help us become better, it's like during the Olympics; not winning the prestigious gold, silver, bronze, didn't stop these athletes from standing back up again, training, learning, and trying again.

This cake topper is my all-time favorite 🤍
The sweet story behind it makes it impossible not to cry.

“When my grandpa passed away -5 months before my wedding, I was devastated. He raised me up, he taught me so much, he loved me so well, he was my everything. I wanted him to walk me down the aisle, but life had other plans for us. One month before his passing, we had a beautiful phone conversation where he told me how much he loved me, he remembered all the adventures we had together, he assured me he will be there for me the day of my wedding and that he will always be around me. He shared his wisdom on a lasting marriage (he was married to my grandma for over 75 years) and he said that their secret was prayer, that when a couple prays together they bond near to each other.

A month after our special phone call, he died and I couldn't be there to say goodbye. I made arrangements for a special funeral service for him in the city I lived (that was the least I could do), that day, one of my friends expressed her condolences and said "he will always be around you", then handed me a box a told me to open it, I did and a little note was there that read: Around You 'just the nearness of you.' and the box had a figurine of a couple praying together while leaning their foreheads together. My friend suggested using it for my wedding.

I started crying because I knew my grandpa wanted to be there and he couldn't. I asked my friend how she knew (I never shared the details of my phone call with anyone except my now husband) her answer was "I didn't know, I just saw it and felt it was right for you." - I used it as the cake topper for my wedding, and whether you believe or not, I felt my grandpa was there and is always there." - MLRB 😭😭
