I didnā€™t want to jinx anything by announcing too soon so I am SO excited to finally let you all know that today begins my career as the culinary instructor!

I have a couple weeks to settle in and get organized before the second semester begins but everyone has been so incredibly kind and inviting that it already feels like I belong.

With all this being said, P&P is going to be taking a backseat through the rest of the school year. I may be open over the summer but Iā€™ll keep you posted. *Orders that have already been placed are still on my books!*

Thank you again for your support!

brittanƩclair: the beginning

Having a mom as a pastry chef pretty much meant that I was born with butter, sugar and flour coursing through my veins - if I wasnā€™t making mud pies in the backyard, you could find me working with mom at the BofA stadium or wearing out my prized Easy-Bake Oven (ā€œmelted plasticā€ was among my specialties). Nobody was surprised when I enrolled in the Baking & Pastry program at CPCC following high school graduation.

As my luck would have it, the program was booked a full school year out, so I worked toward an associateā€™s degree instead and began my search for a part-time job. ā€œCake prepā€ at a Myers Park bakery seemed like the perfect path for meā€¦.if only Iā€™d iced a cake before! Despite butchering my practice run (turns out watching ā€˜Ace of Cakesā€™ doesnā€™t count as real experience), the team saw the potential in me and hired me on full time.

Over the next year I learned from the bottom up as I worked my way from cake prep to cake decorator. But as it turns out, food service keeps you away from your family more than I likedā€¦ or maybe it was your classic quarter-life crisis that sent me back to school to get my associates in marketing! Regardless, I quickly discovered I enjoyed marketing so much that a professor convinced me to continue my education and earn a bachelorā€™s degree.

Fast forward a couple more years and Iā€™m a UNCC graduate starting a new job as a marketing assistant! At last, the opportunity Iā€™d been waiting for! The career of a lifetime!
