Uh oh. Since this used to be a closet, That beautiful bead board ceiling just has an empty gap behind it with no insulation. As the support beams don’t all start at the top, we are going to have some tricky woodworking to fill this area. Bonus, the walls are insulated… with seaweed.

The spider room now has a door way! It’s really cool to see the pipes and wires that were moved under the doorway. The original door was maintained and reused.

Renovation update: some walls are down, some framing is up. These two bedrooms are going to be huge. The radiator pipes now go under the new doorway.

Upstairs bedroom renovation underway! We have had a ‘bat’ door knocker room and a ‘spider’ knocker on a closet. The spider door will be moved to open on to its own room. We are saving all the original materials to use on another project.

We had 51 people at the Old fashioned Christmas party plus $105 in donations collected during the event. 22 children received a gift at the party. Every gift was a book or set of books. It was amazing to see all the kids immediately started reading their books around the tree, and grandparents started reading to the younger ones. Merry Christmas!

One of our Christmas traditions is that our family always brought the punch bowl. Our recipe includes cranberry juice ice cubes. We are making them today for the old fashioned Christmas party tomorrow.

This ‘prelit’ tree is not looking as majestic as last year. Instead of just being a few quick minutes to set up, we are going to end up cutting off lights are rewiring it. This is the forth full size tree. Two more to go

Our “vintage” tree in the museum kitchen. Come visit during our Christmas party on the 16th.
Most of the ornaments are the ball type from the 70’s and 80’s which have a date on them. If you have any of that type of ornament that is no longer hung on your tree, we would love to give it a permanent place on ours.

How do we set up all these Christmas decorations? We do a little bit every day. This is progress from yesterday on the village. Everyone can’t wait to play with dolls tonight! Creating the scenes and making the little dolls live out interesting lives is the best part.

Sometimes we get asked, where do you store all this stuff, and how do you do all this? There are especially deep closets and a pantry on the bottom level of the house. We fill the shelves without boxes for the items and bring them upstairs on trays and lids from totes. This year we will have at least 15 trays of just Christmas village houses.

We almost never use the garage, but when we do I think it’s really cool that people used to fuel up at home here 100 years ago too.

Yesterday we had our first coworking day at Ridgeway Hall. We had two conference rooms set up and set up a taco and salad buffet lunch. This is not the first time a business has been run at this location. During the 1990’s a facial recognition business was run from the basement ‘Swan’ room.

We had 33 people at the Pub Night, which means $330 donation was made to the Library Charitable Foundation. It just happened that we got our tickets for the "One for the Books" event at the same time. See you there!

This lamp shade was on a disconnected light in the garage. It is metal with 16 individual mirrors lining the inside. It was moved to the museum kitchen today opposite the wood stove.

This house is a mix of steampunk and cyberpunk. Here is the original k**b and tube fuse box (disconnected but intact) alongside the enphase 30kW battery system that powers the house when the sun goes down.

We finally got the sign hung up for the pub, and did a little upgrade to the outdoor lights.

Last winter, a very heavy wet snowstorm took out the trellis. This summer we completely rebuilt and painted it, and then decided to move it over the walkway. Next year we will be planting vines to grow up and over it.
