August 1, 1981. Wow. I remember the day. Well, actually it was nighttime. I was rehearsing with Jack White and Richard Grossman in one of the Sound City rehearsal rooms and feeling pretty damn good. The TV show I was on had recently become the big hit show of the summer PLUS I had my first record on the charts after 9 years of releasing records. We had my first national tour lined up playing small theaters in out-of-the-way towns and the new touring band was sounding pretty good for our only our fourth time playing together. Suddenly Joe Gottfried and Tom Skeeter (my managers and owners of Sound City recording studio) burst thru the door with a bottle of champagne and a handful of plastic glasses and spoke the immortal (to me anyway) words, "Jessie’s Girl has just gone number one!" It felt slightly surreal. I'd waited for this for, I guess, 15 years. We hugged each other and slapped backs like we'd just discovered alien life on Enceladus. I typically don't drink champagne but I did that night! 🍾🥂 And that was 40 years ago this very day. It changed everything for me. It became my life before “Jessie’s Girl” and my life after “Jessie’s Girl.”
Before he launched into “Rocky Mountain Way” for the 3000th time, Joe Walsh once said "If I knew I was going to be playing this song for the rest of my life I would have written a different song!” But I am damn proud of “Jessie’s Girl.” It was an afternoon well spent writing that song. It’s a true story and it’s got a good hook AND you can dance to it. 🙂 Anyway, the 40th anniversary of anything only comes around once in a lifetime so I thought I'd say Hi to her. 😉😘

Wonderful Wednesday Facebook Family.
This is another downfall about doing events. (When) You see other events/concerts, one becomes critical. The things I look at are stage presence, timings, audio, lighting, backline (band gear), risers, set up, interaction with the audience, and of course one always find fault.
One more thing, especially for corporate events, you cannot be late!!!

In addition to the below, I got in trouble because the hotel rooms were not ready when the band arrived. I don't understand how a large hotel with 3,000 rooms could not have 30 room ready by noon, so no, it was not always fun being me.
