Alright...Serious question, what do you all think about trying to get Wayne's BBQ U off the ground again? I am itching to do something different. I am itching to do anything really at this point. I have been working on a brand new idea and a totally revamped menu and pricing. I am still equipped to handle any event or occasion up to 150 people.

Let me know your thoughts.

Also, I know I still owe a couple of you food as we have not been able to make arrangements work. I will get with both of you privately.

I think I have come to a final decision on the future of Wayne's BBQ U. We are going to suspend it all for now. Again, for now. I will pick it back up again when I can devote the necessary time, funds and effort. We may start planning for a bigger endeavor at some point? Maybe a brick & mortar or a trailer/truck? We can still do private events, crawfish boils, etc. We just will not be advertising it for the time being. Rest assured, I am not giving up on this! We are just hitting the pause button for a bit.

I truly appreciate those of you that have supported us from the beginning. Please know that I love you all!

Stay tuned! More to come soon, I promise.

Today message....Really more of a question to all of you:

WHAT MAKES A GOOD PERSON?

Does a persons Christianity play a role in your eyes?

Does their willingness to go to a church play a role?

Does their fame and/or fortune mean anything to you?

Does family status play a part?

Do the ones they choose to surround themselves with play a role?

Moreover, what stands out the most to you in determining if someone is a good person?

In the Bible, there are many verses that define what a good person should be. These messages are scattered throughout many books in the Bible.

1 CORINTHIANS 13:1-3
“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.”

PHILIPPIANS 2:3-4
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”

Please comment on what defines a "good person" to you then, if you desire, leave one name of someone in your life that fits your definition. It can be someone that you look up to or just someone that has touched your life.

Since I did not get any responses on the first 5 questions that God asks in the bible, let's try the next 5.

What happens when you pray? Why are some prayers answered immediately or over time? Why do we pray? We pray for healing, we pray for spiritual reinforcement, we pray for many, many things.

Here are 5 things that happen and what we should expect when we speak with Jesus.

1. When you pray...God works!

“The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.” James 5:16

This is the only place to start because our prayers, by themselves, don’t change anything. It’s God working through each one of our prayers that makes the difference. He has the upmost and mighty. Prayers are the channel we use to access His authority.

2. When you pray...God hears!

“For the eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous, and His ears attend to their prayer…” 1 Peter 3:12

Sometimes you may think God does not hear your prayers, but He does hear every single prayer. The enemy knows that prayers access God’s powerful hand, so he speaks lies to get us to believe our prayers are falling on deaf ears. D not believe that!

3. When you pray, God heals!

“And My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

Healing takes on so many different forms. Prayers don’t just produce physical healing, although that’s one aspect. There is also spiritual healing, emotional healing, and relational healing that occurs when we pray. Broken marriages can also be healed through prayer.

4. When you pray, God answers!

“And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.” 1 John 5:15

God hears every prayer and answers every prayer. He answers prayer one of three ways: yes, no, or not yet. Do not be discouraged when you get a no or a not yet! God has your best interest at heart.

5. When you pray, God forgives!

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

In your version of a model pray, Jesus shows us an example of asking for forgiveness. We have promise from God’s Word that when we confess, He will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

In the bible, Jesus asked 135 questions from what I have found. I find myself amazed at the power of these questions and how they cut into my soul.

Todays message:
In todays world, everything is in such turmoil. So much division among politics, family and friends. The only saving grace is God. I heard something on the radio early this morning. It was a message about a baby that was born 4 months premature. The grandfather was talking about how traumatized the entire family was when the doctors told them that there was zero chance the baby would survive. After many surgeries and 1000's of prayers, the baby girl is now almost 4 months old and going home from the hospital very soon. Moral is this, look around, there are miracles everywhere around us. Do you know the one thing that they all have in common? Yes, the power of prayer! Prayer gives you hope and prayer gives you peace.

Jeremiah 33:3:
“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know”

Corinthians 2:9-10:
‘Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.’ But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit.
"For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God”

SORRY FOR THE LONG POST! BELIEVE ME, THERE IS A MESSAGE IN THE END

As many of you know, I started back playing a game that I use to be pretty darn good at last year and, It has been a major struggle to say the least. I averaged 190-195 or so last year. I thought okay, its not 215-220 like you did before but, you can build off of it. Well, this season I am between 185-190 in 2 different houses. A couple of weeks ago I went to my brother and told him, "do not let me drill anymore bowling balls, I am done after this year". For those that do not know, I was at one point in my life, a really good bowler. I averaged over 220 when there were only a handful of bowlers that did back in the 90's. I had to walk away from the game to go be a dad in 1999. I started back in 2008 and bowled up until 2018 when I started to have complications from Type 2 Diabetes and I was forced to step away again. This time it was for close to 5 years. It is really tough when in your mind you are as sharp as ever but physically you just can not do something that use to come pretty darn easy.

Flash forward to Monday, February 19th. My Thursday night team at Tomball Bowl had to make up some games from the previous week. I start out the set with I believe a 108 game. I was as upset as I have probably ever been. When I opened in the 10th frame for the 108 game, I said a few curse words and stomped off outside to collect my thoughts. When I got outside, there was a cool breeze that hit me. I bowed my head and noticed the Lords Prayer dog tag chain that I wear most of the time around my neck. I grabbed it and repeated the Lords Prayer outload. The power of a simple prayer put my mind at ease and I went back in to bowl the 2nd & 3rd games. With a clear head and and with God in the front of my mind I shot 205-256 the last 2 games. Fast-forward to last night at Time to Spare, I arrived at the center about an hour before we started. As I was sitting in the car, I looked down at the Serenity Prayer chain that I had decided to wear around my neck yesterday. I grabbed it and repeated the Serenity Prayer then went inside. I had one of the best nights I have had all season. I had games of 225-192-225.

The moral of all of this is that God works in many, many ways! I know that it is just bowling to some of you but, it is more than that to me. It has been, in the past, an escape from failure and a retreat from the struggles of life. When my mind was in a tough place, a few small words in God's name eased my mind and put me at peace. Always trust in God! Do not be afraid to talk to Jesus about anything. Even if you think it is insignificant to to everyone else. It may be important enough to you for God to help guide you and ease your mind.

As you all know, I have been reading the Book of Psalms again. This is the passage that comes to mind about easing your worries and that helped me with my struggles.

Psalm 37:25-26
“I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread. They are always generous and lend freely; their children will be a blessing”
