Tip Tuesday:

Tulips can stretch and lengthen once you put them in a vase of water. Since I harvest them at their freshest, you will notice them elongate and the bud will become fuller as well.

If they start to droop over your vase it’s because they’ve gotten heavier and longer. Or, if you aren’t trimming the stems daily when you freshen up their water they may not be hydrating properly. (Also make sure they aren’t in direct sunlight or in a spot that’s too warm)

If you’re not into the whimsical look, then you can transfer them to a taller vase so they have more support or you can trim their stems as short as you’d like so they stand up straighter.

When you buy locally grown flowers, they might look different than non-locally grown blooms.

I intentionally harvest at a prime stage so that when you get your bouquet, it will be as fresh and as long lasting as possible.

So don’t you worry if you see a closed bud, or perhaps a bit of muted coloration like in these photos — those buds will fully open and color up for your enjoyment in the vase. Oh, and tulips in particular tend to grow and stretch once they are placed in water so you might have to trim them up if they start to outgrow your vase 🌷

Yall, I’m having so much fun harvesting tulips. It’s kinda satisfying hearing the rubbery foliage and pulling the flower out of the soil.

Um I just planted 120 tomato seeds. 🌱
5 varieties. All of em new to me.
I won’t keep them all to myself. You know I’ll share them with yall.
Im growing them in baby soil blocks this year (because I’m super duper low on seedling grow space…go figure) then I’ll bump them up to the 2 inch blocks.

I kinda made my own soil block recipe, well I tweaked LMZ’s recipe a bit and I’m using rain water and so far I have the happiest seedlings I’ve ever grown. Looking forward to see how the maters like it.

This is the ONLY time I’m gonna say I wish it wasn’t warming up so much because these tulips are gonna all hit this week! 🌷

It’s too nice out to be sittin at the house so I’ll see yall at 1pm DeepRoots Vineyards Sip and Shop! They’ve got a food truck and live music too!

I’ll have a station set up for the kiddos to make their own free seed packet to grow flowers at home!
