Change of topics for a moment....

Preppers will give themselves away using Solar panels, gas powered generators and wind turbines...

For one, in an SHTF situation, and the power goes out the first thing people will be on the lookout for are those 3 things, because it means there is food there...

The noise from the Generator carries, especially when there are no vehicles moving any longer, and light travels as well especially when there is no light pollution because of the grid being down...

Solar panels and wind turbines in place is just placing a big red bullseye on you...

I do not care how prepared for people to storm your place, just remember, I promise you that you do not have enough bullets on hand...

Those 3 things will get every prepper killed....

Once a solar panel is damaged, it's done and once the gas runs out for the generator it's done..

Wind on the other hand is a good way to go for sure as you can make a portable generator if need be, just make sure you have plenty of batteries on hand and keep them topped up...

in all honesty, all you need power for is a fridge and a freezer and a couple of lights, maybe a fan or two and a pump for your water supply...

AC's will give you away for sure....

When SHTF hits, and you have any of those things, you will stick out like a sore thumb....

Build an inground, or an earth berm home for the temperature control and ditch the 3 items for power generation, unless you want to be targeted right off the bat....

Just a PSA... that is all... carry on...

So now comes the Fun part, redesigning the boat....lol...

Going over carefully the rules, the only things that count are:

"The length of the boat must be measured from the tip of the bow to the edge of the stern..."

"the minimum distance must be no less than 2,900 km (1,801.98 mi)."

"At no point may the boat dock on land. The journey must be continuous."

"Although this record is monitored by the size of the boat, the overall time taken must also be provided. The clock does not stop for any reason during the journey"

"The progress of the journey must be recorded by GPS"

The Minimum distance is based on a one way trip, mine is a continuous round trip...

That means no stopping to smell the roses or going into any ports... just zip across and back....

Right now I am going over the North Atlantic hurricane season for the last 10 years to check for a pattern in dates...

Now I do plan on embedding a GPS tracker in the boat itself as well as a couple other places just to be on the safe side of things...lol...

I am also going to have a Sat phone with me for the trip....

As I go along, in the planning stage of things, I will update as things progress...

OK!!!!

LOL.... I AM SUPER STOKED!!!!

I got me acceptance of world record attempt from Guinness along with the guidelines I must follow....

I HAVE GOOSE BUMPS!!!!!!

"I am 50 years old and currently in the design phase of a 3' 8" boat to break the current record of 5'4" world record for smallest boat to cross the Atlantic. The plan is to leave out at sunrise, once I have chosen a day to embark on this challenge.. My Plan is to start in New York and travel to Cardiff and then back to New York.. The reason I want to attempt this record is that I saw the recent attempt and looked at my wife and said "I can do that easily." The boat will not have sails to drive it nor will it have a gas powered outboard... It will be fully electric with solar panels and an electric, no gas of any kind, generator of my own design in order to power the electric outboard, also of my own design... The plan is to do this all non-stop, that's the plan anyway... I do plan to have a satellite tracker embedded into the vessel and hopefully have it linked up to a website to track my progress, that others can follow along with if they so chose... The Trip should take me around 130 days round trip, barring any unavoidable problems at sea...That is the goal for now... The vessel will be made of fiberglass, foam and wood with Lexan for the port holes... I will have an AIS on board, a UHF/VHF radio, EPirb, an various other safety devices.."

no where in the guidelines does it state that I cannot have sponsors for the attempt....

3'8" is the ;length of the boat I stated... it says nothing about the width at all, only the length...

AGAIN, I AM SUPER STOKED!!!!!
