We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved community member, Tom Nordstrom. Tom touched many lives in Myrtle Creek with his kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit.

A Celebration of Life will take place at 11:00am on June 15, 2024, at the 1st Baptist Church, located at 1040 NE Lillian St, Myrtle Creek.

We invite all who knew Tom to join us in commemorating his legacy and sharing the fond memories we hold dear. Let us come together as a community to support one another during this difficult time and celebrate the remarkable life he led.

Your presence would mean a great deal to his family and friends.

With this weekends forecasted 80+ degree weather, we know a lot of people will be looking towards lakes and rivers as a way to cool off. This early in the year, our area waterways are still full of debris and the water is fast running and very COLD!

Here are just a few tips to keep in mind if you go out swimming this weekend, or any time:

Always enter unknown or shallow water cautiously.

Do not enter the water from a height, such as a bridge or boat.

Be careful when standing to prevent being knocked over by currents or waves.

Recreate sober.

Swim with a buddy.

If you are planning to float one of our area rivers or lakes, make a plan! Let others know where you plan to get in and where you plan to get out and wear a life jacket!
