A Hobby turned into Passion with newly discovered avenue for entertainment and awareness in the community
Also, included in the production was a surprise performance by a Burlesque performer as the very entertaining, Marty Brute. Emcee Autumn Elise Taylor kept the audience laughing and engaged with a night of history being made, and was overwhelmed by the excitement and diversity of all who bought tickets for such a new kind of entertainment and production in Huntsville, many of whom had never been to a drag show before. Overall, 12th St Bar was wonderful at hosting the event, and will continue as of date to routinely allow DJ Kory With a K Productions to present more shows in the future. One of which is being drafted for February 2020. I am very happy that the Production companies first show in partnership with 12th St Bar hosting, raised over $1,800 for Huntsville Pride, which is identifiable as a 501c Non-Profit Private Foundation that advocates for the equal rights for the GLBTQ community, hosting events, and and engaging with community with volunteer work, partnering with local businesses to create SAFE SPACES, where the GLBTQ community know where they can patronize freely without any discrimination, or negative experience because of their sexual orientation. Looking back in the Summer of 2017, just over 2 years ago, I could not have imagined something I thought was so easy (while rewarding and very fun much of the time, preparing a whole show/event is very tedious and demanding of a lot of motivation and time management and communication with many invested parties), and something I discovered that entertained me (preparing the shows music and DJ selection and setup weeks before the first show), and to allow me to grow as an artist myself and realize the potential I had in finding that "go after your dreams" attitude, would have grown into a complete public and private event production company. I always have a theme that is both positive in nature, and incorporated in the production is something very important to me; AWARENESS! It has proved to be so successful, and I can only be humbled and grateful that my dream of owning such an up and coming variety of entertainment that this area has been deprived that it makes me want to continue to thrive with the best entertainers, performers, drag queens/kings, and all the wonderful connections being made throughout the community. Ultimately, I want the Huntsville and beyond area to know that when they hear "DJ Kory with a K," they will know what I stand for, what I advocate for, and to be remembered as someone who joined the others locally to allow diversity, and variety of entertainment and fun with awareness to many important topics and subjects that grew from ideas and inspiration to fruition and anticipation, and always thought of as a fun, exciting, and positive experience. I now have a public open web page listed on my fb page, and brand new mobile DJ equipment, and so much support and love from many pepole who have admired my hard work and dedication to standing out not as just another DJ, but as an artist, an advocate, and some have seen me grow from the first show to now and have seen how much joy working and piecing these productions together brings me. Now that I am setup and able to do private events, which is a new chapter that was recently opened in October 2019, I am more than ever thrilled at just another step down the path I never knew, and stil do not know where it will continue to lead me. I have always been " DJ KORY WITH A K" and as a DJ and show producer, lighting and sound coordinator, and businessman, the one thing through all the growth that is still yet to come, is my passion for what I do, and the more opportunities come, the more passionate I will become.
