Welp September 2025 has come to a close and it couldn’t of been a more perfect month for weddings!! It was full of a bunch of firsts for me and I’m totally here for it!! This is what I love most about being a Justice of the Peace!!

Ceremony and things to mark off my list:

-Broom jump ceremony!

I’ve seen them but never actually done one and bride supplied me with information and education on the ceremony and why it exists! I love that! ((Although we have a slip up on my part that day, we made it work!))

-Tree Planting Ceremony.

While this is similar to sand ceremony the couple has their own history and reasoning with planting and having roots for their marriage. I did sand ceremony at my own wedding but I love this idea!! Amazing to watch grow as their marriage does!

-Ceremony in a planetarium 🪐

-Performed a Commitment ceremony a few years back and this year we changed their commitment to legal marriage. Was an honor to be part of both and see how the couple has grown over the years.

- I was saged prior to performing a ceremony along with the Groom and Groomsmen. I am all for whatever they believe, I believe. Sage has cleansing properties amongst other values that are important to many. So yes, lets!

I will adjust my sails to roll with the couples request and belief’s. The day is all about them!

Things I love as a JP:

When the DJ comes with a wireless microphone!! 🎤 Seems so small but this is an absolute game changer! I am naturally loud but wireless is way to go! One rule I have is I will not hold a microphone. Between holding my iPad and then the rings at one point, holding a microphone is a NO for me.

Today we have a wireless and a fabulous day full of sun ☀️ to be wed at The Crystal Room!

The day of a personalized wedding ceremony I’m always double reading what I have created. I’m always wondering if it’s enough,
if it’s perfect for them,
it’s just part of the job and a little of my OCD and ADHD combined lol 

Today I get to perform a ceremony for a women I met through Instagram, I think like 11 years ago now!! To watch her grow and flourish over the years and now find a partner that believes in her and makes her feel safe is why I love doing this!!

Enjoy every moment you have, this evening will be a great one!!

Beautiful gazebo in Seymour, CT for a ceremony with possibility of renting the building behind for reception. Perfect for a smaller wedding!! There’s actually a couple gazebos in same area! The water was super low the day I went but im sure spring time is Beautiful!!

Fact: Being a JP is a business.

They question often arises that a couple has spoken to a different JP and they charge a different amount then what I have quoted.
Being a JP is a business. Therefore, you are paying someone for their services. Things to put into account: drive time, time of arrival, amount of time it takes to compile a personalized wedding ceremony, rehearsal, special instructions, meet up time, etc. Ultimately you are paying someone to make your special day great! So what one JP thinks they are worth will not be the same as another.

Average time spent:
Meet & greet with couple, 1-2 hours.
Personalized vows, 1-2 hours.
Rehearsal, 1-2 hours.
Ceremony total, 1-2 hours.
Total is 8 hours so far.

What would you get paid for 8 hour shift?
