I feel so honored to have made it once again to "Upful LIFE Favorite Records of 2023… and More! Curated by B.Getz [Reviews/Playlists]" in 2023.
Yes, Bee Getz is a brother from another, and our rock solid friendship may have had something to do with it. But we have shared some life-changing musical experiences on the dance floor, and our mutual infatuation with music continues to feed our relationship in ways that are still unfolding. I am elated to see so many of my personal favorites have made this list, some of which we have seen live together many times. I once, not too long ago, traveled to Paris from London for 24 hrs by myself to see Tinariwen perform. I didn't know anyone, got lost in Montmartre, ate escargot by myself in a dim lit bistro, thought I lost my passport in a taxi cab only to find it in a hidden pocket of my jacket, got scammed twice trying to buy tickets to the sold-out show, and in the end I was gifted a ticket while standing in line at the Casino de Paris. It was one of the most magical performances I've ever seen. The energy in the room was of the highest order. The rest of the night unfolded gently and easy, with the Eiffel tower peaking through rooftops as a mighty beacon and the feeling of having conquered something, a je ne sais quoi, weighing on me like a cozy blanket. As the good wordsmith Gilbert Keith Chesterton once said, "If London was a riddle, Paris was the explanation..." And Tinariwen? well, that was the soundtrack that glued it all together.

Hey you music lovers out there! If you are anywhere near Nevada City, come let the power of music move you. As Marques Wyatt has said "Sonic love travels in many dimensions." In addition to producing some of LA's most legendary clubs/events, many associate Marques Wyatt with "DEEP," the illustrious event that he nurtured in his hometown of Los Angeles - thriving and continuing today for well over 19 years. He is one of the few DJ's that have managed to cross pollinate audiences and merge at least two generations of music fans on his dance floors.

I'm ready and grateful to share this love for the transformational power of music with Marques at The Stonehouse on Saturday Sept 23. This one is not to be missed!
