Our Butterfly and Flower Farm is HIRING in New Castle, PA.

Greenhouse & Plant Attendant: We are looking for one individual who would be responsible for plant health and greenhouse maintenance. This position would be approximatley 20-30 hours a week, Monday - Saturday. On our farm we raise thousands of host plants for the caterpillars as well as flowers and nectar plants for the farm. We are looking for someone who would maintain these plants in the greenhouse and in pots outdoors, as well as plants in the field.. Tasks would include watering, fertilizing, identifying disease/parasites and applying treatment, seed starting, transplanting, dead-heading/trimming, and other jobs related to plant health as needed to maintain optimal plant health. This person would also monitor and maintain greenhouse equipment. The ideal candidate would have some familiarity with growing plants, plant health - including diagnosis/ identification, and greenhouse management. We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic, who is motivated, reliable and confident with strong attention to detail. Applicants must be comfortable working in hot/humid environments as in the greenhouse, but also in outdoor applications as well. They must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs. This position offers flexibility, with expectations that tasks are done as needed and in completion. Some experience is preferred but not necessary. While some experience is preferred, it is not mandatory, and pay is negotiable based on qualifications and experience. We are looking to hire immediately.

These are free, for you to give to someone who could use a little extra Christmas cheer this holiday! Please feel free to grab one, or several, -we only ask that you GIVE them to someone special, such as a shut-in, or someone recovering from an illness, or a family grieving a recent loss, etc. We hope they make their holidays a little more cheerful! These vases are available free, for a limited time, and while supplies last, compliments of our Christmas Flower Mission.

Please note: Only the bud vases are free, the flower cart is also stocked with wrapped bouquets, and centerpieces for purchase.

Christmas Flower Mission Update:
Yesterday the last of the flowers were delivered!
Sheila and Vickie dropped flowers off to St. Mary's Alzheimers in Columbiana Ohio.

We also had a wonderful group of kids from Shenango Area School District, the Senior Peer Leaders, headed up by Kim and Jackie who distributed flowers and cards to the residents at Edison Manoe and Quality Life Services in New Castle, Pa. This group did a great job interacting with the residents and sharing the trur joy of Christmas! Thank you for taking the day to brighten the holidays of our local nursing home residents!!

Christmas Flower Mission Update: Today we personally delivered the flowers and cards to the residents at Shenago on the Green in New Wilmington. It was such a blessing to see the smiles on their faces as they received the flowers, cards and special greeting! The girls loved getting to interact with the residents wishing them a very Merry Christmas!

We also a special volunteer deliver flowers to Beaver Valley Rehab in Chippewa as well!

Christmas Flower Mission- Today we sent flowers out to each resident of the following nursing homes: Covington and Meadows of Covington in Unity, Christian House in East Palestine, Celebration Villa in Chippewa, Windsod House Parkside in Columbiana and La Casa Personal Care Home in New
Castle.

A huge thank you to all the volunteers who delivered the flowers!
We still have more going out the rest of the week!

Christmas Flower Mission Update:
Thank you all for your contributions, donations, and cards!

It was our first day of deliveries and we sent out over 1100 vases to several nursing homes in the local area.

We also assembled another 500 vases today, thanks to our amazing team and volunteers at the shop. Special thanks to Sheri, Cindy, Bonnie, Nancy, Ginny, Georgeanne, Marian, Jodi, Andrea, Kip and Jennifer

Homes receiving flowers today included: , Beeghly Oaks, Wickshire Poland, Inn at Poland Way, Masternick, Windsor Estates, Assumption Village, Willow Woods, Inn at Glenellen, Greenbriar, Hampton Woods Assisted Living, Hampton Woods Skilled Nursing, The Grove in New Wilmington and Trinity Oaks in Ellwood.

We had our youngest volunteer, at just 2 years old, helping to distribute cards!

Thank you again to everyone who helped make the Christmas Flower Mission possible! We are so glad we hsvs the opportunity to share a little extra joy with the special residents!

Today we started assembling the vases for the nursing home residents and our amazing crew put together over 1200 vases! It was a busy day, and we are all very excited to be able to spread joy to these residents over the next week. Thank you for your generous contributions for this mission!
We will continue to collect cards through Sunday!
We will start delivering the flowers on Monday.

There is still time to donate cards for our Christmas Flower Mission! We have had a lot of questions regarding the cards. Bottom line, is we will accept ALL types of cards! We love home-made/colored cards from students and adults, as well as fancier stamped handmade cards, to store bought cards that are signed. Many people have also asked how to sign the cards, and again, a simple message or church/school/family name is fine, as well as a simple sentiment of well wishes - anything to brighten their day and make them smile! We want the residents to know they are special and how much we care!
Thank you to all who have donated, or contributed cards!
