We’ve been a with for years alongside our sister company . I’m joining the with this flatlay design inspired by my love of old western movies, with a modern twist for a minimalist couple.
Using only materials I already own, I challenged myself not to rely on ribbon and fresh florals as styling props for this flatlay challenge. I instead pulled from items around my office that I imagine might have been collected by a horseback rider travelling west. Leather strips, a feather quill, and equestrian details inspired me to create this vision of what a modern couple with a love for the old west would gravitate toward for their wedding design.
I even pulled in an old Bell & Howell sundial video camera from the ‘60s I have staged on my barcart! That Blanton’s cork with the galloping horse is a favorite token that fits right in. I love playing off the varying textures here, using cold marble mixed with a linen texture and warm wood details. Juxtaposition in design is something I strive for, aligning unexpected elements to bring the storytelling full circle.
I incorporated details that delight all five senses: the feeling of cold marble and the warmth of leather, the crisp taste of Blanton’s whiskey in a signature cocktail, the delicate scent of a playful strand of smoke dancing off the end of a freshly extinguished match, the visual balance of modern circles that soften the appearance of minimalist straight lines, and the sound of a distant rolling thunder of galloping hooves in the desert sand.
I refer to this design inspiration modern ranch minimalism; Eastwood meets Westworld. I had so much fun exercising my creative muscles for this challenge, and now I can’t wait to bring this vision to life for a real couple!
Thank you for including me in the challenge, and ! I am excited to see what other designs this challenge produces! XO!
