Get ready for an amazing culinary adventure at Tasty Bites of the South on September 10. ✈️🗺️

This year’s competition that brings together dozens of local restaurants, caterers and pastry chefs to compete for the title of “Best Tasty Bit will take place at the historic Lakefront Airport at

This stunning Art Deco building was constructed in the 1930s and the Lakefront Airport served as New Orleans’ major airport until 1946 when Louis Armstrong New Orleans National Airport opened.

The building was used by the U.S. Air Force during WWII as a Cold War-era bomb shelter and the airport suffered significant damage during Hurricanes Katrina in 2005 and Isaac in 2012 but was carefully restored to its original Art Deco grandeur in 2013.

All the original marble walls and columns, terrazzo floors, and the coveted murals by world-known artist Xavier Gonzales were restored, making the Lakefront Airport one of New Orleans’ most dramatic and applauded event spaces.

The Lakefront Airport was recently named the “Most Beautiful Place to get Married” by Curbed New Orleans.

“Our relationship began as friends who lived on the same street in college. We quickly became close and then stayed in the same friend circle for about 3 years. When we first started dating in our fourth year of college - we both knew that we were serious about each other. Zack is very patient and go with the flow while Alexa is a fast paced planner. We have been living together for almost a year now and it’s been so much fun! Living together has confirmed for the both of us that we are the perfect balance. Whether it’s chore tasks, cooking, or design - we always meet in the middle and work something out!”
