McCartney was also Senior Artist Manager at Robert Gilder & Co. where he led the New York City office and managed the careers of international opera singers. McCartney began his professional singing career in his hometown, New York City, at age eight, singing many radio and television jingles. Work in musical theater soon followed along with extensive experience in rock, pop and even as a barbershop quartet tenor. Fortunate to have a dad who was a producer and director of television commercials, he grew up on movie and television sets and worked as a professional actor before entering high school. He has appeared as a concert soloist at Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center, Broadway’s Town Hall Theater, The Kennedy Center, The Benedum Center, The Teatro Bellini (Catania), La Basilica di San Marco (Venice), Teatro Saõ Pedro (Saõ Paulo) and Vest Norges Oper (Bergen) and with numerous Musical Theater companies including: Papermill Playhouse, Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera and The Pioneer Theater. He continues to tour as a member of The Three Irish Tenors. McCartney’s insight and perspective into the casting process and artist management, cultivated over nearly fifteen years of “sitting behind the table” at thousands of auditions, his ongoing relationships with New York’s leading operatic talent managers and industry professionals along with his own thirty years of experience singing opera, musical theater and concert repertoire on many of the world’s greatest stages have made him a successful, effective and sought after voice teacher, audition coach and industry expert. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Carnegie Mellon University from which he graduated with University and College Honors.
