Thanks to the installation of bird-safe glass, the Javits Center now serves as a wildlife habitat unlike any other in New York City. Our 6.75-acre green roof is home to more than 50 bird species, five bat species and five bee hives. This rooftop ecosystem on Manhattan’s West Side truly is a modern-day miracle on 34th Street. NYC Audubon
Our green roof spans nearly 7 acres, the largest of its kind in New York State, and is made up of sedum, a low-lying rock plant that can absorb up to 7 million gallons of stormwater each year. The green roof helps to reduce energy costs throughout the year while serving as a home to thousands of birds, bats and bees, making it an unconventional oasis in the heart of New York City. #sustainability #greenroofs #NYC
