Meet the Artists! Anthony Turner
Baritone Anthony Turner has been presented extensively throughout the United States and Europe in solo recital, concert and opera, and musical theatre performances.
Mr. Turner has performed with conductors Jesus Lopéz-Cobos, David Stern, Giovanni Reggioli, Leslie Dunner, Henry Janiec, Robert Moody, Steven Osgood, Bruce Hangen, Lt. Col. Craig Jessup and Ted Hearne. He has performed with such distinguished artists as Laurie Anderson in Songs and Stories from Moby Dick, Jessye Norman in the PBS special GREATPERFORMANCES series Aïda’s Brothers and Sisters: Black Voices in Opera, Kathleen Battle in Underground Railroad: A Spiritual Journey, and as soloist with Dance Theatre of Harlem, and Four Season’s Arts, Inc.
Orchestra appearances include the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, Lincoln Chamber Orchestra, Omaha Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony, Phoenix Symphony, and the Walla Walla Symphony.
He is an exponent of the classical repertoire of music by black and minority composers, a literature which is consistently included in his concert repertoire.
He has degrees in music performance from Simpson College (BM) and the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (MM), is a member of Actors’ Equity Association, The American Guild of Musical Artists, Opera Ebony, Inc., Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and a life member of the National Federation of Music Clubs. Mr. Turner has been adjunct professor at New York University Tisch School of the Arts New Studio on Broadway and currently serves as Adjunct Professor of Voice at Wagner College on Staten Island.
