The social-emotional benefits of improvisational theatre games are well documented, but sometimes in NYC, there’s a pressure to perform. In this class, taught by Michelle Best, the focus is on group dynamics and how the experience of being a part of a group mind elevates our collective energy. This class will develop the soft skills we need to connect in a world that no longer has to be socially distant.

Come together for 6 weeks of carefully crafted improvisational games, designed for the non-actor. (Actors are welcome too, yet this is not a performance lab.)

Class A: Tuesdays 6:00-7:30 pm

Class B: Tuesdays 8:00-9:30 pm

(Group discounts or discounts for referrals are available upon request.)

Master Improviser and Teacher Michelle Best has carefully designed this improvisation class to specifically sharpen the interpersonal dynamics strained during the global pandemic.

Michelle has mentored with Gary Austin who founded the Groundling Theatre, Del Close who founded iO, and Ali Farahnakian who founded the P.I.T. She has taught improvisation for over 30 years and has guest starred alongside Cynthia Nixon and Wanda Sykes, and has been a mom on SNL more times than she wants to admit. She currently writes for stage and screen and her stand-up is often seen in NYC. Her bio and links to her work can be found at her website: www.michellekristinebest.com

Rehearsal for Truth and The New Stage Theatre Company present " The Bat".
Directed by Ildiko Nemeth
With Sarah Lemp, Adam Boncz and Natasha Babenko
Sound by Attila Patkos
In a kindergarten changing room, a rubber bat vanishes into thin air, setting off a chain of events of suspicion and soon resentment among the parents. What begins as mild distrust soon turns into full-blown hatred. Throughout a series of scenes of the mundane yet deeply resonant struggles of everyday life, the story unfolds into a darkly humorous tale of absurdity from Central and Eastern Europe. Against the backdrop of this comedic chaos lies a poignant tragedy, underscoring the stark realities of contemporary Hungary. "The Bat" offers a biting commentary on Hungarian Society, navigating us through hatred, accusations, suspicion, and ultimately, sorrow.

We are looking forward to seeing You, Your Friends and Family at Hungarian House of New York on Friday, May 31 at 7:30 pm.
