𝗪𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗯𝘆: Lada Scylla Dount

In the softly lit studio of arabesque, the air shimmered with the promise of artistry as Seiun, Marceline, Lada, and Aisha gathered to rehearse their rendition of Cinderella. Their focus was palpable, each dancer poised at the barre as they prepared for the day’s work.

Although they were only told to prepare the routine and heard the distribution of roles a few days ago, they had already learned most of it.

It happens to have conflict after conflict, yet they pass through it together, with their pirouettes, bourrées, and petit allegro perfectly synchronized.

It was one chaotic yet harmonious routine; Seiun, with her fluid port de bras, embodied the grace of Cinderella herself. Marceline, embodying the bratty Drizella, with exaggerated movements and her pas de chat.

Lada, as Anastasia, was equally dramatic, with her bourrées erratic and deliberately off-balance.

Aisha, who acts as the stepmother, moved with her intimidating glissade and a sharp piqué turn.

As the sun settled down, the studio fell into silence as the dancers caught their breaths with proud smiles on their faces.

With each plié, pirouette, and saut de chat, a new realm of storytelling and artistry was created, bringing them closer to the magical world of Cinderella and readying them for the stage.

It wasn’t easy at first, but with each other's help, like the mice in the story, they would create something truly surreal.

As the curtains rose and the crowd applauded,
the world of Cinderella was unveiled—a quaint, rustic home adorned with whimsical details.

Seiun wore the princess's heart on her pointe—a gentle soul she would embody for the enchanting night to come.
ㅤ
The act opened with Seiun picking up the broom, and swept it from side to side. She danced fervently in her tattered dress, followed by a series of expressive pirouettes. Her steps were deliberate yet with grace; her expressions stayed composed and kind, amidst the unending chores that her step-mother and step-sisters left her with.
ㅤ
Conflict came when Aisha being the stepmother, and Marceline and Lada as the stepsisters, entered the scene with their exaggerated leaps and sharp angular gestures, highlighting their cruelty and vanity.

As the act unfolds, the stage is filled with vibrant costumes and dynamic ensemble dancing that reflects the contrasting worlds of hardship and aspiration, ultimately leading to Cinderella's dream of a better life—a theme that blooms throughout the ballet.

The iconic appearance of the Fairy Godmother marks a turning point. Seiun intricately weaves towards the center of the stage as she twirled around with a flowing adiago. Her face, a blend of wonder and hope, as the sudden appearance of the magical figure breaks the monotony of her harsh reality.

𝑩𝒊𝒃𝒃𝒊𝒅𝒊—𝒃𝒐𝒃𝒃𝒊𝒅𝒊—𝒃𝒐𝒐!

There came the Prince’s Grand Ball, where Seiun and the Prince share their first dance in lyrical elegance. They glide gracefully across the stage with their enchanting connection, executing a heart stopping pas de deux, a dramatic pinnacle that leaves a lasting impression.

But the clock strikes at midnight, and the act culminates a toll in that poignant moment. Seiun flees with her quickened steps, to which she loses a glass slipper—the fragility of dreams were painted across her face.

The Prince's desperate search for the owner of the slipper follows as the final act, animated by sharpened steps with urgency that enhance the drama, leading to a heartwarming moment where he finds Seiun—who steps forth with a humble yet radiant grace.

Once they had finished retouching my makeup, I thanked the stylists and staff members profusely for their hard work and attention to detail. With a sense of eagerness and anticipation, I walked out of the room and waited backstage anxiously, composing myself so as not to make any mistakes.
‎

Ten minutes before the final act, our director called us all together, informing us that the final act was about to begin. Fortunately, there was a short break before continuing. As I walked towards him, I took the opportunity to talk to Lada, who would be playing Clara, reminding her that she looked absolutely beautiful and that her role really suited her. In particular, I noted that she had a natural grace and loveliness that were perfect for the part.
‎

Lada and I exchanged a warm hug, kissing each other's cheeks affectionately before she made her way to the stage. As I watched her ascend the stage, I was filled with admiration and pride for her as she moved with both grace and confidence while performing her role as Clara.
‎

After watching Lada perform and take her final bow, it was then my turn to take the stage. I took a few deep breaths, steadying my nerves and psyching myself up for my performance. I knew it was time to embody the character of the Sugarplum Fairy and give my best dance performance yet.
‎

Once I had stepped onto the stage and taken my bow, I was fully in performance mode. I took my starting position, closed my eyes for a moment, and let the music take over me completely. It was time to become one with the Sugarplum Princess and let the dance tell the story.
‎

I felt the music guiding my every move as I moved around the stage with grace and finesse. The other dancers joined me, and together we created a beautiful, synchronized performance. Each leap, turn, and gesture was in perfect harmony with the music, and I felt completely in my element, thoroughly enjoying myself in this moment.
‎

With each step of my choreography, I put my heart and soul into the performance, feeling a connection to the music and the character of the Sugarplum Fairy. My movements were fluid and elegant, with each leap and turn adding to the ethereal quality of the dance. I could feel every muscle in my body working in harmony as I moved across the stage, completely focused and in tune with the music.
‎

I couldn't help but feel a sense of fulfillment and pride. I had long held a dream of being a part of ‘ The Nutcracker, ’ and now, here I was, performing on stage as the Sugarplum Fairy. The adrenaline and joy of the moment were overwhelming, and I felt a deep sense of gratitude and satisfaction for the opportunity to do what I loved most.
‎

As our performance came to an end, we all bowed in unison, taking a collective bow to acknowledge the applause and appreciation from the audience. I could hear their happy shouts and cheers, and I felt a surge of satisfaction and relief that everything had gone well and that we had given our best performance.

Lada beams as she steps onto the main stage, wearing a Khair Haute Couture by Samara St. Cloud. 𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒔 𝒎𝒚 𝒎𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕, she thought, a small, determined smile tugging at her lips.

Her steps were light, almost ethereal, as she greeted the party guests, her arms sweeping in delicate arcs that seemed to paint Clara’s delight into the air. She twirled and twirled, her face alight with wonder as her hands met the Nutcracker for the first time.

‎
But soon came Fritz with his mischievous grin. He lunged for the Nutcracker, and Lada’s movements shifted—darting and defensive, a child’s desperate game turned into an intricate dance. Her feet quickened, her expressions a blend of fear and defiance as she clutched the doll to her chest.

The scene melted into the farewell dance, her steps poised and elegant as she bid her guests goodnight. 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒊𝒅𝒏𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒎𝒂𝒈𝒊𝒄 𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒅.

Next, everything appears so genuine during the midnight transformation. Due to the room's magical transformations, Lada initially just expresses her surprise and caution before moving fearfully while the other characters highlight the conflict between the king mouse and its army and the seemingly living nutcracker doll.

She valiantly steps in and defeats the Mouse King by flinging her slipper at him when the Nutcracker is in danger.

‎
Although her movement shows decisiveness, it is still filled with youthful hesitance, reflecting Clara’s courage.

The pas de deux that followed was a dream brought to life. Lada’s movements were soft and floating, her amazement at this wondrous new realm evident in every gesture. Together, she and the Nutcracker Prince danced into the Land of Snow, where snowflakes pirouetted in unison, their shimmering forms blending with hers as the stage transformed into a wintry forest.

𝗪𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗯𝘆: Aoi Sono

Ever since she was young, Aoi dreamed of being a ballerina, but her parents' desire for a different path caused that dream to fade as she grew older. Now, she stands inside Arabesque's rehearsal room, where she applied a few weeks ago.

Clad in her ballet uniform, her hair sleek and polished, she meticulously observes every movement of the dancers, critically assessing for any errors. After all, their magnificent performance is just days away, on December 7th. Today marks their final rehearsal for The Nutcracker, and everything must be perfect.

The first act begins with the young Miss Lada Scylla Doúnt, who dances gracefully as the music fills the rehearsal room. Aoi mirrors the young lady's movements, ensuring the performance's stability and guiding her through the music.

"That was perfection!" Aoi exclaims, cutting the music and leaving a smile on Lada's face. "Thank you, Miss Aoi! I'm flattered," Lada replies with a warm smile. While they are merely rehearsing, their performance already exudes grace and elegance.

Next, Aoi demonstrates a few grand jetés for the final act, which Miss Aisha will subsequently perform.

Aisha quickly adapts and executes the movements gracefully. Aoi watches intently, and a warm smile spreads across her face as the music reaches its climax.

"Great job, everybody!" Aoi claps. "Let's ensure our grace and elegance captivate the audience on the day of the performance!" she adds.

The rehearsal concludes, and the entire production team is confident in their ability to deliver a stunning performance.

𝗪𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗯𝘆: seiun.

The lulling hum of the orchestra envelopes the theater on the first snowfall of December.

It was in the final days of dress rehearsals—the dizzying glow of the stage lighting was constantly adjusting, ballet dancers were rigorously assessed to perfect every detail—from the seams of their costumes to each twirl and their last curtsy.

Seiun, despite being the latest addition to the cast, managed to land a role in one of the vital scenes in the second act—the soloist in the "Waltz of the Flowers" act. Her profile left Arabesque's board of directors astounded that they had to include her in the program with only days away from the performance.

"Take your position, Act 2, Scene 9: Waltz of the Flowers act dancers, you're next in 5!"

Ballet dancers entered the stage in a formation that resembled a blooming garden. The title of the act itself embodied the waltz—like flowers swaying in the winter breeze, emphasizing the fairy-tale-like tone of the piece.

Seiun graced the stage with her presence. Her movements were so delicate, almost like the ground had turned into ice—cautious but bold enough to make the steps.

The scene was almost set for spring to come, as it was elegant and precisely choreographed to showcase each of the dancers' artistry.

That was one of the reasons why Seiun chose Arabesque—everyone gets to be their own star.

With the final scene nearing its last pirouette, all that Seiun could think about was the day that they would leave the audience captivated and enchanted by their harmonious display, for each and every character that had unfolded throughout the performance had played their scenes beyond expectations.

As the first snow rained that cold December night, Seiun landed on her toes flawlessly on stage, marking the end of the beginning.
