Non flower post this morning! A lot of you have probably heard me gush about .provisions a small business located in beautiful Perry County (Elliotsburg to be exact). It is an all local grocery store owned and operated by one of the kindest humans you will ever meet. Lindsay has worked hard to cultivate relationships with the local farmers and producers who provide all of the products sold at the shop, that's right, everything there comes straight to the store from the source, and most of it is produced right in Perry County, the rest in PA.
That means you won't find strawberries in October, or apples in June, because it is all based on seasonality (with some farmers using heated greenhouses to extend their growing season.) Sustainable and humane farming practices are SO important for our planet and our bodies. Take a deep dive on Google 🙂
Lindsay is also doing so much for members in the community with food insecurities. She operates by a "pay what you can" system that works both ways. Customers always have the option of donating the program, which in turn helps feed others who may not otherwise be able to afford healthy, good food. She works with local schools, community outreach, and so much more than I have room to list.
So what's in the shop now? Let's see what I can remember from my shifts this week! Bread, muffins, cheese, butter, eggs, milk, yogurt, kombucha, kimchee, ready to heat and eat meals, tea, lemonade concentrates, fruit juice, popcorn, jams, fruit butters, meat, GF baked goods, handmade pasta, frozen meals, garlic, squash, cabbage, lettuce, spinach, kales, collard greens, peppers, broccolini, potatoes, sweet potatoes, beets, turnips, radishes, maple syrup, dry goods like flour and rice, pancake mix, salad dressing, oils, sauces, scallions, spices, fresh herbs, chocolate.
I decided to take on a part time job over the winter and I am feeling SO lucky to be working alongside her and her amazing team! Do me a favor and give the shop a follow, take a drive into the country, visit, see what it's all about, and tell your friends, share this story!!
