Introducing our director for Aladdin :)
"Jan studied dance and drama at the I M Marsh College in Liverpool where she played numerous roles from Romeo to the Mad Hatter and does admit to playing Banquo six times even if one of them was from inside a shopping trolley! She then went on to enjoy 40 years of teaching drama , directing and producing numerous productions on the way.
One of her most memorable moments was directing A Christmas Carol whilst teaching in Oman, the cast was made up of eighteen different nationalities, the production was outside and the backdrop was the black Arabian sky and the twinkling stars-absolutely magical.
Since retiring ten years ago, Jan has belonged to a few local amdram groups and is now thoroughly enjoying being part of the Encore Theatre Company. She donned her normal “ baddie” role once more to play the Wicked Witch of The West in the group’s production of The Wizard Of Oz in 2020.
After Covid, Jan picked up her director’s hat once again to bring Sleeping Beauty to the stage.. This year she is back wearing the chief nagger’s hat once more and she is delighted to present this year’s production of Aladdin."
