Our next book club read is "North Woods" by Daniel Mason.

About North Woods: "A sweeping novel about a single house in the woods of New England, told through the lives of those who inhabit it across the centuries—“a time-spanning, genre-blurring work of storytelling magic” (The Washington Post) from the Pulitzer Prize finalist and author of The Piano Tuner and The Winter Soldier."

We are meeting on Thursday, November 14th at 5:00pm to discuss the book. Light refreshments provided.

Enjoy live music tonight at Waterman's!
Andre Ethier and Wildflower are performing Thursday, October 24th at 7:00pm.
$10 admission

About Andre Ethier: Since his days as the frontman of the Deadly Snakes, Ethier has cultivated an entirely different artistic practice as an acclaimed contemporary painter. At the same time, he has quietly slipped out a spellbinding body of work as a solo musician, with this album trifecta showcasing his skills as one of Canada's most vastly underrated songwriters and storytellers. Ethier's songs are casually played but carefully orchestrated, allowing each element to appear in sharp focus.

About Wildflower: Wildflower is the songwriting project of Adrian O’Barr, based in Portland, Maine. Writing songs mostly about place and the power of nature, the music seeks to explore a distinctive vision of “Atlantic” music and tell stories of a changing coastline. Wildflower’s third album, “Green World” arrived 3/1/2024 via their own label Dog’s Breath Records to much acclaim. O’Barr has toured both regionally and nationally with many of his heroes, including Michael Nau, Joseph Shabason, and Little Wings, but mostly can be found playing small communities up and down the Maine Coast.

We have another exciting event coming up on Monday, October 21st at 7:00pm, in collaboration with North Haven Community School and North Haven Historical Society.

We are all welcoming Dwayne Tomah, Passamaquoddy language keeper, cultural preservationist, teacher, and director and curator of the Sipayik Museum, to North Haven.

Tomah is the youngest known fluent speaker of the Passamaquoddy and has worked with the Library of Congress to translate the 1890 wax cylinder recordings of tribal members - the oldest field recordings known to exist.

He is visiting NHCS and NHHS during the day and presenting the documentary, "The Doctrine of Discovery: Unmasking the Domination Code," at Waterman's in the evening. We will screen the film and Tomah will be there for a Q&A presentation after.

Entrance to the film is $5 suggested donation (students are free).
