Fur the Love of PAWS Rescue provides vital services to the unwanted, abandoned, neglected and abused in the North Platte area.
Not only is it our continued mission to keep the city shelter No Kill, but we now have several community programs support pets and their people.
❤ We are a rescue resource for the North Platte Animal Shelter, helping to network the animals there and help provide veterinary care, networking, and much, much more for this city funded, animal control shelter.
❤ We take pictures and videos of the adoptables at NPAS, name them, give them ID tags for their kennels and help with assessments of the animals, to help them find homes.
❤ Every month we list pictures of the shelter and rescue pets in our local newspaper.
❤ In January 2017, we opened the doors to North Platte's first rescue facility - the Fur the Love of PAWS FURcility. This facility helps us to focus on saving even more felines from the animal shelter, instead of transporting them out to other areas with the same overpopulation problem. We focus on physical, behavioral and emotional rehabilitation and giving each cat the attention he or she needs to become happy, healthy and ready for a home.
Our dogs remain in foster homes.
❤ We are a legally state licensed and inspected, all volunteer organization whose primary purpose is to help the animals who enter the North Platte Animal Shelter. We have helped to save every adoptable animal in that shelter over the past 10 years including introducing our program 3 years ago to make sure all feral cats are fixed, vetted and get safe barn homes.
❤ We provide a second adoption option for North Platte and surrounding communities to help link them with healthy pets that fit their family, which helps pets stay in their homes and out of shelters. Fur the Love of PAWS is passionately dedicated to saving the animals in our community and will continue to grow as an organization to continue to help our animals and our community.
❤️ We offer guidance and assistance in rehoming pets who can no longer stay with their families, through education and courtesy posts and offering spay/neuter assistance.
❤ We also co-operate the North Platte Pet Food Pantry, run a recycling program called Cans for Critters and operate LOST PAWS - North Platte, NE., a networking page to help reunite lost/found pets with their owners and help keep additional stray pet burdens from entering the small city shelter.
❤️ In 2019, we created a much needed spay/neuter program for stray and feral cats called . We have fixed 240 cats since it's creation and hope to continue to provide this assistance to others long term. This nearly guaranteed the prevention of over 1500 cats!
❤️ We host a FURmergency Community Fund. Long Term Pet Owners who need a temporary helping hand, can reach out to us for assistance with necessary pet needs.
❤️ Our latest project, Snip it in the Bud, The Daily Fix will be a month long program offering one free dog or cat spay/neuter to a family who may not otherwise be able to afford it, one every day in the month of May.
