Another first in the books! I have done many events in my client's homes, many more in banquet halls and event centers. This was the first time I have opened my own home up for an event and let me tell you, it did not disappoint!!! Surprise birthday wine pairing dinner for 8, and man was that birthday boy surprised! I lived a lot of my life in restaurants fearing "the bus pulling up", but this bus was special. I was eagerly awaiting their arrival. Thanks and shout out to Black Diamond Transportation for getting them to me safely through the still somewhat dicey roads left behind by Icemageddon 2026. Speaking of Icemageddon...Winter Storm Fern tried to sabotage my entree by not being able to get my Elk in on time, so I must give a huge shout out to Jon Bonnell and Bonnell's Fine Texas Cuisine for coming through in a big way and helping source that! Always good to know your industry icons are living the everyone wins together life! Go visit them soon and often!!! My hostess and her crew rolled in right on time and the pianist began the night's playlist. From the welcome mingle through the courses to meeting and trying to sack and dognap our fur babies, all had a great time and our home was filled with life, celebration and comradery. Shout out and big thanks Eric Felton and Sommras for the opportunity to work with some amazing wines and providing great tasting notes to pair with. I must say in this case, Saturday Night may be alright for fighting, but Friday Night was made for wining and dining and that is exactly what they did. The rep, fresh in from Napa, even tossed the sport coat and started an Eric Clapton Unplugged jam session with the pianist for a bluesy vibe. First, but definitely not the last of these events that will happen. If you've got a secret and it's a big one, feel free to reach out to your Friendly Neighborhood Giant Chef, I may have a spot and a plan! Cheers to all and enjoy the visuals!
