🚨🚨 🚨🚨
Due to the forecast and the Winter Storm Warning issued by the National Weather Service Fort Worth Office (NWS) at 1 p.m. today, Birdville ISD will NOT have school Thursday, January 9. The winter storm is forecast to move into our area early tomorrow morning, which could create challenging and potentially dangerous conditions for students and staff traveling to and from school.
We will continue to monitor the weather and make a decision about Friday after our briefing with the NWS Thursday afternoon and provide updates through our website, social media, text messages and email.

❄️❄️We’ve teamed up with the National Weather Service (NWS) and our local and county weather pros on “snow patrol” to keep a close eye on the frosty mix that may blow our way this week. Whatever winter decides to throw at us—snow, sleet, or a surprise ice sculpture—we’ve got it covered and will keep you updated!❄️❄️

Our leadership team is continuing to monitor the current weather conditions multiple times a day in order to make timely decisions. We are in constant communication with our local cities, the NWS Fort Worth office, and surrounding school districts to stay updated on the latest developments. Your patience and cooperation as we navigate these challenges are greatly appreciated.

Many factors are considered when making these decisions, such as student and staff safety, staff commutes, student meals, working parents, student transportation, child care, extracurricular activities, and more. Thank you for your resilience and grace while we work collectively to make hard decisions.

As of right now, Birdville ISD is planning to remain open on Wednesday. If the weather forecast proves to be correct for Thursday and/or Friday, we will adjust accordingly. Stay tuned for updates—we’ll reach out faster than a sled on ice—via phone, text, and email. Bundle up, stay safe, and let’s make it a snow-tastic week!

Through these Top 12 moments, we celebrate the creativity, collaboration, and incredible achievements that defined 2024.

Top post of 2024:
#5 | Introducing Hannah Youngblood, a proud 2008 Birdville ISD graduate and current teacher at Richland High School! While in school, she was active on the drill team, National Honor Society, and High on Life. After earning her degree from Baylor University in 2012, she launched a floral design business before finding her passion in education. Today, she teaches AP Human Geography honors World Geography, and serves as the Varsity Cheer Coach.

Hannah credits Birdville ISD for shaping her path, especially recognizing impactful teachers like Mr. Sizemore, Mrs. Breitinger, and Mrs. Donahue. She also fondly recalls her time on the drill team, calling it a cornerstone of her personal growth. The Youngblood family’s Birdville pride runs deep—her father graduated in 1974, and her mother, a 1975 alumna, taught in the district for 28 years. The legacy lives on!
