Final update on Steve:
We wanted to let everyone know how Steve is doing. We had his 30 day post surgery follow up with the cardiologist PA and she was very pleased with Steve’s progress and his healing. All his incisions look great and are healing well. She said he is above average on his progress and was very happy overall. He was released to drive, lift 20 # and resume most normal daily activities.
Steve wanted to express his heartfelt gratitude and thanks for everyone that had reached out, stopped in the shop, sent cards, text, emails and especially those who said a prayer for him. It meant more than you can know and really did lift his spirits and made healing easier. We love and appreciate our Sue’s friends and family! Thank you from all of us❤️

We wanted to update everyone on Steve
He had his surgery Wednesday the 17th. It was delayed by 3 hours so it made for a long day into the late night before we could see him.
He did well in surgery and they only had to replace the 5 arteries.
There have been some hiccups but that is to be expected after a major surgery. He is hoping to get to come home sometime this week so long as they can get his breathing under control and keep him from going into AFib.
We as a family want to say Thank You to everyone who has reached out and kept us in prayers. It’s been humbling, and overwhelming but we are thankful that there are so many people that care for us and our family. ❤️

Good morning, we wanted to update everyone that we received a phone call late Friday from the surgeons office that due to “other emergencies” Steve’s surgery will have to be moved to Wednesday the 17th.
This was not the news we wanted them to call and say as we were all prepared for the surgery on Monday.
We will be open today and tomorrow with all of us here!
We WILL be open Wednesday, as our good friend Polly will be manning the shop and our good friends Larry and Edna will be taking deliveries!
Please have patience with them and us as we try to get through this week!

We wanted to give an update on Steve, the surgeons office just called and gave us a surgery date of April 15th. Which is 3 weeks outs, not the time frame we wanted but we understand.
For 2 reasons, one the doctor is on vacation the 2 weeks prior to surgery.
The other is they have some other follow up test that they need Steve to complete before surgery so those will be done in a couple of weeks.
We appreciate everyone who has reached out and stopped in to see us. The outpouring of love and support has been overwhelmingly amazing and we definitely feel the love from our community, friends and family, Thank You ❤️

To our loyal Sue’s Family. Over the past 42 years of being in business, many of you started as customers, became friends and even family. We have shared in many of your celebrations and some sorrows. We feel a part of many of your families and lives and we love sharing in your joys and being there for you in your losses. We felt compelled to share with our families some news that we received. We are not asking for sympathy but rather for some grace and understanding as we navigate this time. 3 weeks ago Steve was having some blood pressure issues that landed him in the hospital for 5 days. Through this we found that he has 5 blocked arteries in his heart. This was not the news we were expecting or hoping to hear. Unfortunately due to the severity of the blockages, one being the main artery 100% blocked, and another also 100% blocked, the use of stents is not possible. Steve will have to have open heart surgery to replace the 5 arteries. We are not sure when the surgery will be and we will try our hardest to maintain our hours and keep the shop open. There may be times where we will be opening late or closed, specifically the day of surgery so our family can be together. We appreciate all thoughts and comments and will know more as the time comes.
As to date we have met with Dr Scavo, the cardiologist that will be preforming the surgery. We both really liked him and feel he will do a good job. The surgery will be in Fort Wayne. We are currently waiting on insurance approval and some testing and then the surgery will be scheduled. As we know more we will keep you all up to date!
