To our beloved community: we are excited to FINALLY reveal to you the name of our botanical lounge project (you know, the one so many of you helped support during our fall fundraising campaign!) We have named the lounge Sub Rosa, which means “under the rose” in Latin and refers to “things happening or done in secret.” The name holds deep, layered meaning, but it is ultimately an homage to our q***r ancestors and their desire to really LIVE!

We feel deeply privileged to muse on the question “what does it mean to really live?”– to say “yes” to life and all of its kaleidoscopic realities. We feel deeply grateful to wonder at the possibilities that Sub Rosa holds for us, and we feel that gratitude profoundly in this moment while daily acts of needless violence are being waged in Gaza upon so many beloved and fellow human beings. Like so many of you, we wonder what it means to witness a genocide from the palm of our hand. We wonder what it means for the holistic wellbeing of our local and global communities, for the Earth and all organisms, to psychically, physically, and spiritually recover from this. Is there recovery from this? What else is possible?

Amidst all of this questioning, we are reminded of the wise words of James Baldwin who writes that, “The precise role of the artist [...] is to illuminate [the] darkness, to blaze roads through that vast forest, so that we will not, in all our doing, lose sight of its purpose, which is, after all, to make the world a more human dwelling place.”

We are creating Sub Rosa out of love for our community, and our desire to create a “dwelling place” that centers experiences of beauty and pleasure above all else. This is our way of “illuminating the darkness” – to heed the call and say “yes” to life and our responsibility to it. Sub Rosa will be a place to be inspired, to be at home, to be safe in all of your complexities, to connect with friends old and new– it’s a place to be lifted out of the mundane and into the fantastic.(Continued in comments)…

It’s been a while since we’ve posted here… there has been so much happening in our tiny world of MG & we’ve been grappling with the literal mind-melt of trying to keep our business rolling amidst the truly horrifying violence taking place right now in Gaza.

Flowers are always the beings we reach toward in grief. As we begin the work of putting the farm to rest for the winter, the last of our flowers are arriving, and with them the respite of their medicine. Our constant proximity to beauty here at MG is not something that is lost on us, especially now—indeed, we wish we could blanket the world in flowers— to let what is beautiful be medicine for the broken-hearted.

As q***r folks, we acutely understand the reality that “silence equals violence.” We also know that demanding an end to violence—anywhere and everywhere—is rooted in the knowing that peace & liberty should be all living beings’ birthright. We are calling our reps, we are holding signs, we are calling for a ceasefire. We are also grieving with you — our local & global community— over all of the innocent lives lost, and are pleading with those in power to not allow anymore.

A couple of you have already snuck-in to the fundraising campaign to snag tickets (way to get it!) but here comes the official announcement:

Our good friends from have curated a DJ line-up for the first guaranteed - banger on West Street since The Grotto closed in 2002! Will you be one of the very first people to get down in the lounge???

On Friday 9/15, just one week prior to the conclusion of our fundraiser, a limited number of guests will be invited for a pre-construction dance party in the future lounge space!

We have added "Boy Harsher DJ Set" giving levels within the fundraising campaign that will provide donors who purchase at those levels with entry into the party. Space is limited and we expect to sell out, so advanced purchase is recommended! Just follow the link in bio to get on the list!

Entry starts at $25 BUT your generosity doesn't have to stop there....scroll through the donation levels and you will see that the more you give, the more you'll get, including future drinks on-the-house. All donations will be matched x2 -- don't you want to show and how much you're obsessed them ? 🥵

THANK YOU to Jae & Gus & Pace for throwing all of your support and love behind this project! We can't wait to get sweaty with y'all 🔥🔥🔥

One of the most exciting components of our new botanical lounge is our ability to expand our collaborations with our most favorite people -- who also happen to be wildly talented. ❤️‍🔥

This commissioned piece, designed by Rebecca, was photographed by .... through the window of our soon-to-be lounge space!

Only the most skilled people can make moments like this photo seem effortless. We are so lucky to be in community with such creative people -- folks pushing boundaries in an effort to master their craft. It doesn't take much to imagine the creative possibilities that will arise from our new community-oriented, collaborative space.

We can't wait to share this dream with you! Please continue to help us spread the word about our fundraising campaign -- we need all the help we can get!!! ALSO, we love you!

These early Spring snaps give us so much perspective / appreciation for the grand undertaking that is farming. This is our home field, located near the Connecticut river on unceded Nipmuc and Pocumtuc land.

When these pics were taken in May, our harvests were primarily originating from our high tunnel greenhouses, early perennial blooms, and our annual tulip block. The transplanting of hundreds of thousands of flowers had not yet begun. Fast forward a few months and our fields look completely different today!

Our field conditions seem to change with the blink of an eye -- partly because that's just what happens as the season progresses. But the MAJOR factor for all of the visible change is because our farm crew has been working day-in-and-day-out, racing to keep up with the rhythm of the season. After all, we only get one chance per year to do this thing 🤯

The relentless pace of the season has been coupled with new challenges this year, adding a layer of surrealism to our everyday farm tasks. Smoke from the Canadian wildfires has filled our skies over the past several weeks, affecting our ability to work outside and making us question how our crops will be affected this year. People all over the planet deal with the visible effects of climate change in their everyday reality, but U.S. culture has done an incredible job of disconnecting and distracting us from what is actually happening.

Truthfully, it is an incredibly dystopian feeling to keep working through all of this: we are simultaneously wondering if we'll be able to physically exist as farmers on a planet whose conditions may no longer allow for crops to be grown while we're also grappling with the increasing dangers of existing as q***r folks in a nation that continues to perfect its desire to eliminate the existence of BIPOC and q***r folks, as seen in this past week's SCOTUS rulings.

The fields that we tend to certainly hold a spirit of romance and safety for us. We hope that by sharing with you how precarious life is feeling these days, you might be moved to action: we need folks by our side who prioritize these gorgeous fields and human rights over all else!

Happy Pride, y'all 🌹 As q***r folks, we move through everyday feeling grateful for the magic that we feel in our beings ✨

Real talk: our existence today is truly only possible because trans women of color fought back against acts of violence that were continuosly perpetrated against their/our community - Stonewall, the origin story of Pride, was a riot. Our ability to be visible and confident about who we are as people and small business owners is only possible because of the actual physical resistance undertaken by real human beings who chose to risk their lives in the hope of creating a different, slightly safer world.

Truthfully, we are living in a terrifying time right now: we are hyper-aware of the ever-increasing, violent threats to our existence as q***r people -- over 520 legislative bills have been introduced this year alone that target and seek to erase the existence of q***r and trans folks, and that number is increasing daily. We face serious threats of physical violence as we get ready for our parades and drag shows -- some of the safe spaces that we have created for ourselves outside of a world that has always been so vocally against our existence. Despite our lived reality, we also know that this news doesn't always affect, nor even reach, the hearts and minds of non-q***r identified people.

So please consider this an invitation to honor and celebrate q***rness -- to be filled with both love and rage; maybe you'll stand up on behalf of people who you know and love. But as one of our dear friends reminded us recently: you shouldn't have to love someone just to recognize their humanity, to be invested in their ability to exist, and to believe them when they tell you who they are. We will ALWAYS have flowers at the ready for anyone who is here to step up and become our accomplices!

For Wendy and Marco’s celebration at Amanzoe, we carefully selected the floral elements based on what was in season both locally and regionally, and chose a color palette that would make the greatest impact against the existing tones of the arid landscape in Porto Cheli. The goal of our ceremony design was to envelop Wendy and Marco in a lush floral meadow that spoke to the palpable magic & beauty of the location.

For the tablescape details, we incorporated locally-sourced olives, chickpeas and apricots to accentuate the textures and tones of the floral centerpieces. The candle elements were sourced from , , , & .

We've said it once, we'll say it again: it was a dream to be amongst such an incredible team of creatives for this event 💝

Attention everyone who has ever asked us if you can come visit the farm! Here is your chance!!!

Come make memories on the farm with us this Mother’s Day weekend! Join us for an afternoon celebrating the mother figures and caretakers in your lives with flowers, BYO picnicking space on the farm, and the option to purchase a photo session with the incredible Oliver Scott!

We know that this holiday can be complicated for many folks, and we encourage a capacious definition of caretaker here: who in your life has loved you profoundly? Who has helped you grow? Each FROLIC! ticket will cover the admission of up to FOUR people and will include the following: 15 stems at our build-your-own Bouquet Bar, which will be set up in between our greenhouses full of spring-blooming crops; plenty of space in our 5-acre home field to bring your own picnic and enjoy the landscape; beverages for purchase; and a farm tour lead by co-owners Kel and Rebecca!

04/20/2023

At the beginning of this week, we were honored to host Zach Ducheneaux, the Farm Service Agency (FSA) Administrator, on our farm! Mr. Ducheneaux was visiting Massachusetts to give a speech at the Harvard Kennedy School and our state FSA office made a suggestion to the feds: "If Zach wants to see what farming is like in Massachusetts, he should visit Western Mass." The feds took them up on their offer -- we were honored to be the ONLY farm visit that he made while in Massachusetts! (Our state Executive Director told us that in his 35+ years with the FSA, he has never had the opportunity to bring an Administrator on a farm visit!)

Zach Ducheneaux was appointed as the FSA Administrator by President Biden in February 2021. In this position, he oversees all FSA offices throughout the nation and works to develop farmer-centered agricultural policy, conservation, credit and loan programs with advising from organizations like

Zach previously served as the Executive Director of the Intertribal Agriculture Council, the largest, longest-standing Native American agriculture organization in the US. The Council represents all Federally Recognized Tribes and serves 80,000 Native American producers.

Zach is a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe and is the first Native FSA Administrator; it was truly humbling to be in his presence. The cadence of our dialogue was incredibly potent. His wisdom, holistic perspective, thoughtful questions, and eagerness to learn about our process has immediately, positively impacted how we think about the passion project that is MG (and we were only with him for about an hour and a half!)

We often immediately name that we are not food producers to people who are *in* the agricultural world, partly because we want to emphasize the value of food farmers ahead of ourselves. But by the end of our visit, Zach encouraged us to stop talking about ourselves in these terms; he spoke at length about the nourishment that we are offering our community. While we have always carried this knowing about what the flowers offer, we have never been in the presence of someone who could so easily put words to it. (Continued in comments)

Reposted from MANY GRACES]

This week, Kel is in Washington DC meeting with members of Congress calling on them to make an historic investment in the 2023 Farm Bill to facilitate equitable access to of land for this and the next generation of farmers.

For the past year, Kel has been working with 99 other farmers nationwide who were selected by to serve in a majority BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) Land Advocacy Fellowship to advocate for equitable land access for young and BIPOC farmers and ranchers.

Access to land is the number one challenge facing this and the next generation of farmers in the US, and centuries of discrimination and dispossession have put access to land out of reach for BIPOC farmers in particular.

We at MG don't share much publicly about the struggles that we face as first-generation, non-land-owning farmers. But everything that we do costs us SO MUCH MORE time and money because of our lack of infrastructure/access to land.

An estimated 50% of all farmland is going to change hands in the next 20 years, and as farmers we simply do not have the resources to compete with the private real estate market to pursue ownership (land is a Wall Street-traded commodity!) These structural roadblocks are even more entrenched for BIPOC farmers.

Young farmers, and most especially BIPOC farmers, NEED major structural changes related to land access -- it is a critical intervention needed to combat climate change and ensure that our food and sustainable farming systems do not collapse!

We are here for the necessary, complex conversations about land access, land back, and land stewardship vs. "ownership." We need federal policy changes in the 2023 Farm Bill that work to address the myriad issues facing young / BIPOC / first generation farmers!

Congress needs to redirect money from Big Ag to small farmers who center a healthy relationship with the Earth in their practices (FYI: BIPOC people have always been farming harmoniously in ways white people now call "regenerative"... Ughhhhhhh!)

Kel is HERE for your questions about all of this! Follow along in MANY GRACES] stories this week!

Our Mission: Sustainable, Ethical, Local

Many Graces' commitment is first and foremost to the land: through our organic and sustainable farming practices we ensure that the land we grow on is kept healthy so as to not only promote vibrant ecosystems for all beings who interact with it, but to also provide our customers with chemical-free blooms for their home, workplace, and special events.

From the bees that buzz through our fields every day, finding their way over from the neighboring apiary, to the turkeys who often venture across the field in the mornings as they make their way to the Connecticut River, to the farm dogs and friends who often help us in the field, and finally, to you-- our beloved clients-- we grow organically, ethically, and responsibly and steward the land with the utmost care and reverence for the wellness of our larger Earth community.
