There’s a misconception that locally-grown flowers = wildflowers. Wildflowers are quite beautiful. They’re flowers that naturally grow without having been cultivated by human hands. Some are ethereal. Some quite hardy. Often these plants are native to a region, but they can be introduced. You may think that’s the only type of “local” flowers you have access to, but if you stroll through your local farmer’s market, you’ll see a wide variety of flowers.

The truth is locally grown flowers give you the chance to fill your home with unique and beautiful flowers - godetia, gooseneck loosestrife, specialty daffodils, dinnerplate dahlias, Madame butterfly snapdragons, fritillaria, allium; just to name a few.

Our June 'Floral Note' is debunking a few myths surrounding local flowers. Head to the link in our profile to read more.

Welcome summer with a flower crown workshop at Perennial this Saturday!

🌸 In our opinion, a St. Louis summer is even better with a flower crown. 🌸

Join us this weekend for a hands-on workshop led by Amy Bunge of Hareandbearco, where you’ll create your very own fresh, lush flower crown using seasonal flowers, herbs, and foliage.
Rock your crown at the Missouri Botanical Garden's Whitaker Music Festival, St. Louis Shakespeare Festival, The Muny, Pride, and beyond. Your flower crown will be the perfect summer accessory, and an eco-friendly one, too!

In this class, you’ll learn:
✨ Floral arrangement & design
✨ How to choose sustainable, native flowers & foliage
✨ Storing and drying techniques to keep your crown fresh

There are still a few spots left—grab yours at the link in our bio.

I began Hare and Bear Co. out of a deep-seeded belief that flowers can bring people together. Whether it's in the growing, the enjoying, or the creating, flowers play a role in many people's lives. The fact that I can share that with you on some level, be it through a workshop, a bouquet delivery, wedding flowers, or just talking about my garden, is a privilege I don't take lightly.
Hare and Bear Co. has never only been about flowers. We're about people and community. So, if you see me sharing and talking about more than flowers on here, it's because I'm more than flowers. Just as I believe there's space for all of us in floristry, I believe there's space for all of us in this country.
Small businesses are part of a community, and I know I wouldn't be where I am without that community. I will continue to share about issues and events that are important because I care.

Hare and Bear Co's first magazine article is out!

Back in April, I had the pleasure of talking with Amy Burger from St. Louis Magazine all about my passions - floral design, gardening, and sustainability. I'm forever grateful to be able to live out this dream of mine, so to have someone find my journey worth sharing is the icing on the cake.

Thank you, Amy and St. Louis Magazine. Thank you to Katie Long for capturing and sharing these beautiful photos.

Our latest Floral Note on navigating the impact of tariffs on the flower industry is published.

You might have heard of eating seasonally and locally, also known as “farm to table,” meaning you choose fruits and vegetables based on what’s in season and grown within a certain radius of your home. Seasonal floristry follows a similar concept—I like to call it “seed to vase.”

The Slow Flower movement is here to stay, and I say, "Give me all the local flowers!".

Happiest of anniversaries to Maddy and Anthony.

One year ago, these two trusted me to create something truly special for their wedding day, and I will be forever grateful. It started on a whim when I shared a floral tapestry in my stories and said I wanted to make one for someone. Even though it wasn't in the original plan, Maddy messaged and said she and Anthony would totally want a tapestry for their ceremony.

These two invested so much in me, and I don't mean financially. Their trust in my abilities and design sense was huge! Thank you, Maddy and Anthony, and "Happy 1 year anniversary!".

There's something so beautiful about your flowers honoring a moment in time as special as your wedding day.
There are the hallmarks of each season like tulips, daffodils, ranunculus, and peonies, and then there are the extra elements like Columbine, chive flowers, common rue. It's these layers that create memorable floral design and honors time and place.
I'm eternally grateful for the couples who put their trust in me to make something truly reflective of their wedding day.
