5th Grade You are My Sunshine
Thank you to everyone who came out to watch our Band Contest Parent Preview last night, including our 7th and 8th grade sight reading a whole piece in 7 minutes or less LIVE in front of the crowd!
Videos in the process of being downloaded and posted (hopefully ready tomorrow morning), but here’s a preview of how motivated our kids were for the night!

Happy Holidays from Tegan and Gus!
Our final music project was driven by the following question: How could my music be used to help others during this time of stress and anxiety? The creativity and thoughtfulness of our students was absolutely astounding.
Noel composed this piece in its entirety using Noteflight. The track you hear along with her playing is also her creation.
"The title of this piece is Wave Dance, because I want it to sound like you are floating on a ship and dancing the waltz at a party. I wrote this piece to lift everyone's spirits and to encourage those around me. I love how music can take you away from your situation and put you in a brand new world even if it is just for a second. I hope by the end of this you will have a bright smile on your face. Thank you and please enjoy Wave Dance."

Pearson (aka Xylo) chose to prepare an arrangement of Amazing Grace by John Newton, W.Walker, and Southern Harmony. He chose this piece because, "The melody is calm and soothing, and it is comforting to listen to. My performance will create a positive impact on my family because Amazing Grace is a song that makes you happy." He performed this piece via zoom for his family, and the recording from that performance is below.

The creativity and thoughtfulness of our students was absolutely astounding. Deacon Scott arranged, performed, and recorded the following piece on his own. See his introduction and work below:
Hello everyone. This is my arrangement of the song “Lean On Me” by Bill Withers. I thought that this song would be pretty relevant during this pandemic. I really wanted to remind everyone who feels like they are alone in this that they are not. We are all in this together.
Jupiter from The Planets, Holst Arr. Monday
Congratulations to the Belle Isle Orchestra on their Superior Ratings today at OSSAA Contest. All powerful musical moments are a result of hard work, and these students did just that! What powerful, passionate, and expressive music from these young, yet professional, musicians. Go Bulls!
Wow! What a moving, and very final, middle school performance by the 8th Grade Band of "The Phantom of The Opera"! Happy Trails to Y'all!!!

Each of our classes have had the opportunity to reflect on the past semester and vision cast for the next! A few of our favorite questions were:
If you could learn about anything related to music, what would you learn?
If you could play any piece or genre of music, what would you play?
If you could perform for any audience, who would you perform for and why?
How did we totally crush being team players last semester? How can we improve?
We're excited for what we can learn and experience in the next five months!
